A new generation takes charge

Chapter 4- Two strangers entered Chavan Nivas

 

Sairat and Savi enrolled in student exchange programme for their summer project. As a group of 10 first they were send to a college in Bangalore. They finished their project there within a month but they also had to serve 1 half more months for their summer projects so the group was send to Nagpur. 

They were scheduled to stay in the college hostel infact they stayed there for two days but later there was a mejor electric fault in one wings of hostel so the college authority removed all the students from that wings. The contractor said it will take nearl a month for repairing. So the college authority accommodate all their students in oter wings and instead of  people at a room the accommodate 8 people at a room. But for the exchange students they did some other arrangements. They requested some good families who are guardian of their students to accommodate these students. 

Krish, Mohit and Karishma were also called by the college authority for this reason. Mohit and Karishma said they can acomoate two students. College authorit send Savi and Sairat Chavan thinking that it will be helpful for them to adjust in same culture.  

The next morning Savi and Sairat entered Chavan Nivas with their bags. Chavan family arranged a single room with two beds thinking that college will either two boys or two girls but they were shocked to see one boy and one girl. When Savi understood their hesitation she told to Karishma “dont worry aunty we are twins. We stay in sam room at home also.” listening this Karishma was relieved and settle them in their room which is beside Krish’s. 

In the breakfast table these brother sister duo meet with everyone of Chavan Nivas. They respectfully touched feet af all the elders. Bhabani become emotional after knowing that they are twins. She remembered that Sai was also pregnant wih twins when she left the house though she doesnt know whether Sai delivered two boys, two girls or one boy and one girl. They know nothing about Virat and his family. Tears formed in corner of her eyes but she controlled. Sonali asked them about their family and they talked about their parents and grandparents. Neither asked their surname or their parents name so they didnt say anything about it. 

They noticed that the boy who was nearly at their age and was seating beside them was not talking but busy in his books. His mother shouted his stop reading in breakfast table and concentrate on food. It looked odd to them .

Savi and Sairat was happy when they were allotted in a joint family with same surname. They thought that they will learn some traditional Marathi culture and experience to live in a happy joint family. But they sadly notice that they family is divided in parts. In one part there is three people staying together away from other family. Infact they eat separately also. Among other family members Mohit stays in office, Karishma remain busy in managing the house with servants, Bhabani stays alone in her room maximum time, Sonali stays out wit her friends, Omi spends his days in garden with plants and Krish stayed glued to his books and computer. 

They expected that they will get a happy family but here nobody properly talk with others. They decided that they will ask college authority to accommodate somewhere else as tey dont like this house at all. When they were roaming in the hall of pictures they become shocked to see portraits of their grand parents and parents. 

When they were watching those pictures open mouthed they heard a voice “what are you looking like this?” they turned to see Bhabani standing behind them. Sairat who is more practical song them asked “Oh actually we havent seen these people in the house thats why.” Bhabani left a breath and said “they dont stay here, we had a misunderstanding years ago and they left.” then she pointed towards Ninad’s picture said “thats my brother-in-law Ninad Chavan, he is an ex army man. Next t him my sister-in-law his wife Ashwini she is an amazing cook. Down their picture the handsome man is Virat Chavan, Ninad and Ashwini’s son he is an IPS officer and lastly the young lady is Sai Virat’s wife, she is a doctor. If things were not that bad 20 years ago and they idnt leave the house then this family would have been in different state.” without eting them say anything she left the place controlling her tears. 

After she left Savi said “yes he family woud have not been this shattered if they stayed back here.” they changed their decision of leaving the family and decided to get to know more about the family their parents left 20 years ago.
