Chapter 7: Time To Catch The Runaway

After a few minutes of just sitting on the couch, unbothered, Cale watched as Choi Han asked Jiwoo for the first aid kit. Once he got it, he sat down beside Cale, undoing the slightly messy bandage Jiwoo made, basically redoing the entire thing until it was nice and secure. "Anyways..." Kayden sighed, side eyeing the children all at the table in Jiwoos kitchen, staring at the dark brown steaming cup of hot chocolate. As well as the weird cold fluffy white stuff on top of it. "You try it first Hong, you can endure poisons-" Raon whispered, nudging the red haired boy. "Huh!? Why me!?" He asked, turning to his elder sister for help only to watch her look away, also not wanting to try this weird cold thing. "Noona!" He called out to her in despair. "Hurry!" Raon didn't have enough patience as he took a spoon full of the whipped cream, shoving it into Hongs mouth who paled, thinking it'd hurt only to feel whatever it was melt in his mouth. He gasped once the sweetness covered his tongue. "It's good!!" He shouted, grabbing his one spoon and shoving the cream into his mouth again.

Raon and On looked at each other, gulping as they too, grabbed a bit of whipped cream and ate it. Eyes widening, they all ate the whipped cream plainly. Leaving the dark hot chocolate, back at square one, trying to get Hong to eat it before any of them tried it. Kayden sighed, quite annoyed with them as he went back to talking to Jiwoo who was all smiles, quite happy hearing his house so chatty for the first time as Choi Han grumbled about many things to Cale who ignored his worried accusations. So many people were in his house, it felt weird hearing so many voices in his home besides the TV. "Your power is stronger than before right?" Jiwoo turned back to Kayden, his attention on the cat again. "Uhm- yeah, it is. At first I could only move fast for a second a day but now I can move...3 to 5 seconds a day" Jiwoo calculated, wondering where Kaydens was going with this.

"...you lacked training and you were scared. It makes sense because you were hiding your powers instead of trying to make it stronger-" Kayden explained, watching as Jiwoo blinked. "Do most awakened one's strengthen their powers?" Both Cale and Kayden frowned hearing Jiwoos rather obvious question. To Cale, it didn't matter whether it was this world, the other world, or his world, every world he's been to only ever wanted to become stronger. Businesses wanted to have full authority over everything in the market, the ability users all wanted to have strong battle based powers to take down those monsters and dominate those who were weaker, even the damned "white star" just wanted power. Everything he's known, every problem he's faced was because someone was greedy enough to wish for even more power than they already had.

Of course anyone would want to be powerful, untouchable, and a king. That's what split Cale from them. He knew well of people and their greed but he, himself, hardly wanted anything besides money to live a slacker life like no other. A life where he could just laze around to the fullest. A life where he had nothing to worry about. That's his dream. But, yet again, as he sat there with a child who had no idea he was an awakened one and a talking cat gave him an ominous sign of his plans drifting farther and farther away no matter how fast or long he swam towards it. "Haaaah" he let out a long sigh, feeling Choi Han tie the last bit of his bandage up. "Are you feeling better Cale-nim?" He asked, watching as Cale calmly sat back up, moving his shoulder with a satisfied smile. Nothing. No pain. "Yeah, thanks" he said, watching as Choi Han smiled back as well, listening into Kaydens sun Jiwoos conversation once more.

"...of course, why wouldn't people want to? They can do whatever they want with their powers" Kayden said, looking at Jiwoo as if he was some other worldly being for asking a stupid question like that. "Hm...maybe...but I still want to hide my power though..." Jiwoo thought, glancing at Choi Han who was stoically listening in. Then to Cale who simply sat there, his eyes shut like he's sleeping. Rather, Cale only wished for him to think that. Both of them listened intently to their conversation about awakened one's and hopefully gained information about how to control powers. To them, the way they strengthen powers here is the possible way of releasing their own. "That's because your an exception...." But their conversation cut early when everyone heard Jiwoos stomach growl. The room fell silent except for the trio of children still trying to make Hong drink the dark brown liquid in the kitchen.
