Author's Note: Sorry for taking an EXTREMELY long time with this. (I have a life too lawl) anyways, hope you guys enjoy it!!!
I glanced around. Everything was green due to the night vision goggles I had on. Being on night watch was exhausting but necessary. Not all players are willing to battle to the final stage to get out of the game. I am not entirely sure how their process of thoughts, but they end up killing people anyways, NPC or not.
I stared at Haruka as he slept and the outline of the loaded pistol was visible under the thin pillow he used. Getting slightly restless, I got up and carried my chair from the door to the wooden table set in a corner. Upon hearing a small thump I made when I set the chair down, Haruka bolted out of bed.
"Relax, its just me," I huffed and pulled out my pistol. At the corner of my eye I observed him as he hesitated before slipping back into bed. Both of us were a little startled from the attack last week. Five other players had, apparently, stalked us from the second week to then begotr ambushing us in the middle of the night. It was only understandablr that Haruka was so anxious. That said, the past few days were quite uneventful, besides the dramatic fight that broke out in the pub nearby.
I then unfastened the clip that held the pistol together and began to dismantle it. Pulling out a cloth from my pocket, I started to clean the interior of the pistol. Everything was peaceful really, if you ignore the heated arguement downstairs. It'll probably break out into a fight.
A loud boom filled the room.
Wooden splinters sliced across my face and I was blinded by an extremely hot flame. I cursed and grabbed my pistol. A hand held on firmly to my elbow and dragged me to the open window. Naturally, I struggled and gave my attacker a good kick in the face, only to realise it was Haruka. I immediately did the next thing that was appropriate and pulled us both out of the window. We jumped out simultaneously and landed lightly onto the dirt pavement between many closed shops that made a market.
I hissed under my breath, my eyes glued to the window of our room but no one seemed to appear on the second floor. Ignoring the HP bar that kept dropping next to me and the stinging pain of the burns on my left arm, my hands quickly reassembled my half-cleaned pistol and I brought it up to aim at anyone exiting the shophouse on the first floor whilst Haruka aimed his to the window on the second floor. We were in that position for a good ten minutes. No one. I reached out to hold onto Haruka's shoulder.
"We can't stay long," I whispered and he nodded. Not another second later, we were sprinting away to the neighbouring village. However, a burning question remained in my mind. Who was that?
BANG.
Pain shot through my right arm and up my spine. I stumbled forward in shock. My health dropped by another sixty-four points, now a hundred and thirty points from full health, which was not so bad, my health was still in the yellow zone. Haruka had his pistol up and shooting whoever was that behind us. A major headache wreaked my mind as I tried to stand. Ignoring the throb in my right arm, I wielded my photon in my left hand and glanced around, to lock on to my target. My eyes darted to my upper right hand corner and realised that my health had been dropping by 10 points each minute, which would mean that I would die within an hour and my STM was no longer 1890, it was now 1655 more points before my HP would be deducted by another 25 points every five minutes. I bit the inside of my lip as I signalled for Haruka to cover me.
A man with a grey coat stood before us with a sniper rifle in his right hand and a blue photon in his left. I charged and purple blue sparks flew everywhere as our swords clashed against each other. He was strong. I knew I had no chance against him. But this is a matter of life and death. I have to win this.
