💫 𝙲𝚑𝚊𝚙𝚝𝚎𝚛 7⃣ 💫

A/N: Just a quick heads up that what happens in this chapter takes place at the same time that Alice and Amelia are at Pop's with FP and Fred.

Meanwhile over at the high school, it was already time for lunch period. Betty and Polly were just joining their respective groups of friends at their regular tables in the school's cafeteria.

The former had actually been acting a bit off most of the morning which at least three of her friends including Veronica Lodge, the latest addition to the group, and Kevin Keller who happened to be the son of the town sheriff, had definitely taken notice of.

Veronica was worried about her blonde haired friend and decided to ask her if anything was wrong that could help explain why she was acting so off all morning.

"Hey, Bee. You okay?"

The blonde snapped out of her thoughts and looked over at her friend. She could see right away the concern within the brunette's dark brown eyes, causing her to feel bad for making her bestie worry about her.

"Sorry about that, Vee. I just have some stuff on my mind. My dad flaked again on his weekend with me and Polly. On top of that drama, I'm still having trouble with actually believing that my baby sister Amelia is finally back home with my family again after so long."

Veronica looked at the blonde in confusion which made Betty realize that she hadn't really mentioned anything regarding Amelia or the fact that she had mysteriously vanished years before because of how painful it was for her to talk or even think about the entire situation.

Before she could ask Betty about the topic though, Archie who had been pretty quiet since they had all sat down together at the start of lunch suddenly spoke up.

"Wait, back up a bit. Betty, what do you mean Amelia's finally back home with your family again? When the heck did that happen?"

Betty quickly explained to her friends how according to what her mother had told her and Polly that morning, her younger sister had mysteriously walked into Pop's the previous night while Veronica's mom had been working the night shift.

She also explained how Alice had apparently gone down to the diner after receiving a call from Veronica's mother about Amelia being there and ended up bringing her home with her after realizing that it really was Amelia.

Once she had finished her story, Betty looked around at her friends only to see the shocked looks on all of their faces. Even Kevin was speechless which was really saying something as the teenager was a serious chatterbox at times.

Just then, Betty noticed the red haired queen bee of Riverdale High, Cheryl Blossom, and her equally red haired twin brother who happened to be the captain of the school's football team, Jason coming towards their table causing her to groan internally.

She had always gotten along pretty well with both Cheryl and Jason for the most part. In fact, she and Cheryl had been extremely close at one point. However, their closeness had unraveled when both girls were around 11 years old and it had been discovered that Betty's father had been having an affair with none other than Cheryl and Jason's own mother Penelope.

Betty still remembered how devastated her mother had been when she'd found out about her father's affair.

Alice had immediately filed for divorce with help from Sierra McCoy, the lawyer mother of another of Betty's classmates Josie. Polly had sided with their mother immediately after hearing what Hal had done and so had Betty.

Back to the present though.

"Hey, Betty?"

Betty and the rest of her friends all glanced over at Cheryl and Jason who were standing together at the end of the table.

"What do you want, Jason? We're trying to enjoy our lunch right now and don't have the desire to listen to your sister try and tear Betty down yet again. It's actually getting a bit stale at this point, if I'm being totally honest."

Betty watched in silence from her spot between Veronica and Kevin as Cheryl's head lowered in what she assumed was embarrassment.

The blonde was confused. It was, after all, very unlike for her redheaded former friend to act like she was embarrassed by anything that she did.

"Betty, Polly told us that your other sister Amelia was finally found, that she was safe and living with you and your family again. Cheryl and I just wanted to extend our congrats on your sister's safe return. We both remember how hard it was for you and your family when she first disappeared ten years ago."

Betty sent the red headed teen a small smile before thanking him for what he'd said.

As the Blossom twins were making their way back to their own lunch table, Betty noticed Archie's younger sister Skylar coming over to their table, a determined look on her face.

"Betty, I really don't wanna sound rude or anything like that but what the heck is this that I'm hearing about Amelia being back home with you and your family again? When exactly did that even happen?"

Like she had earlier with Veronica, Archie and Kevin, Betty explained to the younger girl that her sister had mysteriously shown up at Pop's late last night while Veronica's mother had been working and how she had called her mom right away once she realized that it was Amelia.

Skylar who was now sitting next to her brother was shocked at hearing all of this. She then realized that Amelia being back with her mother and sisters could have been what her dad mentioned he wanted to talk to her about that morning before she and Archie had left for school.

"Amelia hasn't really said anything yet about what happened to her or where she's been all this time though. I honestly think that she might be scared to talk about any of it. I mean, that's my theory based on the look she had on her face when Polly asked about where she's been this whole time. She looked like a deer caught in the headlights, you know?"

Veronica leaned towards her blonde haired friend and wrapped a comforting arm around her shoulders, leading Betty to lean against her in response.

"It'll be okay, Bee. I'm sure that Amelia will open up to you or your mom about what happened to her soon."

Betty sighed softly before replying to what her Latina bestie had just said.

"I hope you're right about that, Vee. I just wanna know who took Amelia from us and why, you know?"

A/N: I know that this is a bit of an abrupt end for this chapter but I couldn't think of another way to close it out.
