-Drapetomania: An overwhelming urge to run away.

I start to freak out as I scramble to find my sketchbook in my bag. All the books and supplies fell across my bed as I grabbed my backpack and flipped it inside out. Before becoming furious and throwing everything on the floor, I ran my hands impatiently through each and every item.

I can't believe I lost it. My eyes were on the verge of getting wet. My chest tightened. It felt like someone was squeezing my heart in front of me. I felt sick as I let the tears fall. The only thing keeping me sane was gone after she left. I attempt to recall where I left it as I run my hands through my hair.

The rooftop? Oh no, Ren would have spotted it for sure if I had left it on the roof. I briefly thought about calling him and asking him about it, but I ultimately decided against it. I'll ask him about it tomorrow. There's still a chance that he didn't see it and it's still there.

Köcher High School. The dream of many however for me, It always seemed like a nightmare. A prison where I have to be trapped for hours. I look around as I enter through the gate, The school is mostly empty as it was still a bit early. I rush towards the rooftop after throwing the bag in my locker. I push the steel door open as the cold morning air finally greets me. I hurry towards the boxes, praying that it's still there.

Laying on top of another book, was my sketchbook. I let out a huge sigh as I quickly grabbed it and looked through the pages first choosing to ignore the other identical sketchbook that was laying underneath mine on the boxes. Relieved to see the pages, intact. I grab the other one, observing it at first before opening it. It was exactly like mine except the pages were empty and it had a little note on the first page accompanied by a tiny sticky note. I recognised the handwriting on the note instantly, shocked as I ran my fingers through it. She wrote it for Ren. The little tiny sticky note stuck in the very corner of the page written by Ren.

You need this more than I do.❞

I sit down on the cardboard boxes as I read through the letter my sister left for Ren.

To Ren,

Happy Birthday! I know it's still a bit early but I wanted to leave you a present before I left. I made both Rain and you the same sketchbooks with your name embroidered on them. Just so you know they're only two in this world, It took me weeks to make them so you better cherish them. Since you two always end up liking the same thing and fighting over it and somehow I always end up in the middle of resolving it. I hope you like it, I'll give Rain's to her on her birthday before I leave. She isn't taking it well but I hope at least you can try and understand. I don't want to go but Father wants me to and you know I can't refuse him. I hope you can take care of yourself and her while I'm gone. Don't fight or I'll have to fly back home to resolve it. I promise I'll be back soon. It's just two years. Thank you for being my best friend. I love you, Ren.

                                         love, Talia.

I flip through the pages after I'm done reading the letter causing a picture to fall on the ground. I carefully picked it up. I stared at it for a while, not believing my eyes. This was so long ago that I even forgot It existed. It was a picture of all three of us. We were holding our matching teddy bears altogether as we grinned towards the camera. I was standing in the middle with one of my front teeth missing. Lia and Ren were by my side, both taller than me.

I smile through the tears that had unknowingly fallen out of my eyes. I run my hand over the leather cover of the sketchbook as I close it. Like mine, Ren's name was embroidered on it. I grabbed both sketchbooks and stuffed them into my bag before leaving the rooftop. I had my driver get me my bike cause there was no way I was going to go through an actual day of school after all this.
