I am posting a quick summary before this chapter, as the updates have been spaced out recently.
The readers who are reading in continuation can skip this summary and scroll down to the chapter just below. Thank you all for your patience. I am truly grateful to each and every one of you.
The last chaper was in Penelope's POV and this new chapter is in Micajah's POV. So the plot will be continued in both the Point of views and will overlap somewhere in the future.
Happy Reading!
Last chapter in Micajah's POV:
Micajah meets a scared yet eager P in the woods and finds out that Cole the new Alpha of Alpha Callum's pack is Xavier, the one who tricked his mate few years ago. Micajah calls on his emergency squad leader to protect his mate. Micajah plans to let P go with Mark, his squad leader and stay back himself to fight the devil head on.
A very emotional Penelope vows to stay with Micajah for her entire wolf life and wishes to have his children too. They part their ways as per the plan, since Micajah doesn't bear Penelope's mark yet and so their scents haven't blended completely.
His Pov (the current update)
Micajah Stone
My wolf aches to leave her mark upon my skin—to seal our mate bond and surrender to the ecstasy of another burning heat. I long to lose myself in that current of desire, our bodies tangled in a fevered embrace.
Pushing such thoughts aside, I swiftly mindlink Mark—my emergency squad leader. His services have only been called upon twice before, and both times he proved nothing short of exceptional. Now, I entrust him with the most crucial mission of his life: to protect his Luna, and in doing so, to protect his Alpha. He understands all too well that without Penelope, I'm as useless as a fallen log.
Even the mere thought of Penelope reconsidering the morning-after pill fills both me and my wolf with profound satisfaction, reinforcing the faith I have in our mate—and in the bond that ties us.
"My mate," my wolf growls with reverent pride, "she is our one true love. Without her, we are but fragments. She's accepted us completely now. She wants a family—with us. She's come so far, truly. From once refusing to even call you her mate to now yearning to carry your seed... it's remarkable how danger has a way of stripping people down to their truth."
His words echo in my mind, raw and undeniable. I can't help but agree—though a grimace tugs at my lips, the weight of his honesty pressing heavy on my chest.
Samuel, my Beta has already informed my family, and they wasted no time—bags packed in a heartbeat, now waiting outside our bungalow, ready to depart. It took me far longer to say goodbye to my Penelope. Just a brief farewell, yet it left a small ache—a gap in our togetherness that felt far too wide.
That parting, however, fuels the fire within me. For my mate, I will fight harder than ever. With renewed determination, I throw on my shirt and shorts and stride toward the bungalow's lobby. Outside, the cars stand ready at the entrance, my Beta Samuel at the helm, steady as ever.
I check with Sam. "How is Natalie doing?" I ask.
"She's fine, boss. She's at her parents' house. They're looking after her right now," he tells me.
"Okay, good. She's with family." I nod. "What's the status of the plane?"
"On time, boss," he replies.
"Great, then let's get going. Not much time has passed, Sam — we still have that element of surprise," I tell him.
"Hello," I say softly, approaching my mother.
She cups my face in her hands, forcing me to meet her gaze.
"You keep your love—and yourself—alive, Mica," she says firmly. "Our pack needs you. Slay this demon and make sure he never harms another Alpha family again. Show him what we're made of. And take care of my daughters, son."
