~Angel eyes, devil attitude~
The sound of coffee beans being crushed and the alluring smell of lemon cakes has something comforting about them, I am currently sitting in my favorite cafe, surrounded by padded wicker seats and drowned in paper work, no- one told me that being a lawyer came with all this paperwork.
"Here you are Hun" my Aunt smiles as she slides my vanilla latte across the table, she then tightens her auburn hair clasped in a ponytail.
"Thanks" I reply
She wipes her hands on her apron before grabbing the crumb filled plates.
"Sweetie you should take a break you've been working yourself to the max"
"I can't stop" I sigh, "I have a deadline Abby needs these filled out and I keep telling myself I will do it but I just haven't had the time"
"Alright Babe but don't work yourself past the max"She smiled sweetly before returning behind the counter.
At that moment I witnessed a little girl enter the cafe her long blonde curls bounced against her back as she dashed towards the counter.
"Cassidy don't run away like that" I hear a dark male voice command
My eyes meet a man with espresso brown hair, somewhat slicked, a thread of the hair refused to stay clashed with the others, hanging down by his piercing blue eyes holding no emotion.
His phone starts to go off in his pocket, he pulls the phone from his cashmere pants, fixing his gold watch.
"Cass, I need to take this call but go ahead and order yourself something" he insisted, handing the little girl his card.
"Thank you Ace"The girl beamed as he headed outside
It was only when I heard the door slam that I came to the realization that I had been silently gawking over this man.
A few minutes in advance the mysterious man strolled in, his black shoes shined from the sun reflecting on the surface, he secured one of the buttons of his black blazer and fixed his cuff links before joining the little girl at the counter.
As he was paying for the order my Aunt makes eye contact with me and makes a wow expression with her mouth before pulling her attention towards the little girl who had clasped her hands on the edge of the counter and placed her chin to see more.
"Hey sweetie how's your day going?" My aunt questioned her
The man sent a slight glare towards my aunt before leading the little girl to a table,
My Aunt walks over to me before crabbing my empty cup.
"What was that all about?"I ask her
"Not sure, it was strange though, almost as if he didn't even want me to acknowledge the girl, but he is so hot"
"What's the bet he's a young single dad, whose wife had an affair?" I question
"50 cents says he's heart broken and lonely" she adds leaning one hand on the top of my chair and placing the other on her hip
"You're on"
she high fives me before heading behind the counter to get more orders ready,
I collect my hair in my hands before slinging it over onto my right shoulder ,
As I am packing up my belongings my aunt hands me a take away box.
"Dinner" she gestures "I won't be home in time"She adds
"Thank you"I reply graciously before hugging her
She kisses my cheek and smiles before wiping down the table
I make eye contact with the blue eyed mystery, my coat slightly brushing him as I walk past,
I hear the bell ring as I exit, and stroll towards my car, I drive to my office and settle my bag in my desk chair, I unlock one of my drawers before sifting through folders of information,
Before I knew it the view from outside had darkened and I found that the street lights had turned on.
I lock up and make my way to the parking lot where my car is parked as I am doing so I hear a sudden bang sound approach close to where I am,
I then witness a man running in my direction followed by a car following behind, the car engine roaring up until it was close enough near the man .
I see the passenger door agape, and my pulse starts racing,
a pair of shiny black shoes made contact with the concrete it was then that my eyes met with some oh familiar blue orbs that made a shiver go down my spine.
"Sorry Angel, never wanted you to be a part of this" he proclaimed
Confusion was written all over my face, until I heard a bullet being shot
I glance down at the ground to observe a stranger as dead as the night air, just lying there before my eyes,
Before I knew it another car pulled in behind, three men piled out to collect the body and the evidence, I divert my attention back to the unknown man, too stunned to speak a word.
He takes one more glance at me before proceeding to walk back to his car,
"So what you're just gonna leave me here without an explanation as to what just happened right before my eyes?" I ventured
He ignored me and continued to climb into his car
"I will go to the police"I declared
He paused before stepping out of his car, he walked close to me slowly closing the gap between us, making me feel worthless and small.
"Who would believe you Angel?" he taunted "Princess, I know you won't say anything you're frightened from the thoughts of what might happen to you if you did" he smirked slightly
he then turned around and climbed into his car, before leaving me alone next to my car with no noise but the wind making conversation with the trees.
