Back to present day
It is the day of the funeral.
Great gan gan's coffin was scheduled to move from the current paying in respect venue to the church. The past few days have been hectic for the adults, especially Grandfather and Grandmother, who are now King and Queen Consort. Grandfather and his children had to accompany her body to various parts of Gironia for the people to pay their respects. I have seen the people on television, some were crying, some of them is or was from the military and some bowed or curtsey lower than usual.
I didn't know that people in Gironia respected her a lot. To them, it's their Queen, but to me, she's my Great-Gan Gan.
The journey back to the Church is live streamed online. It was weird, but l watched it anyway. There are many people crowding up the sidewalks and is only held back by a barrier and police officers patrolling around. Whenever Great-gan gan's coffin will drive past, a bunch of them would start throwing bouquets of roses to her car in showing their respect to her. This continued until her body reaches the Church.
However, the funeral is not over yet. Later this evening, the grandchildren and older great-grandchildren (us) will guard Great-gan gan's coffin for 3 hours. Isabella, Talia and James are too young to be included in this. Both Helena and l will join the grandchildren of the past monarch to pay our respects but the both of us will only be doing an hour while the rest of them had to stand for 3 hours straight in silence.
Mother has already briefed us this yesterday night. She explained the expectations she will have on us and the do's and don't's when standing around Great-gan gan's coffin. Not only that, no great-grandchildren has ever done this in history so the media's attention will be focused more on us during the entire hour.
We have also received our dresses for the funeral. It looks like this:
Mine
Helena's:
We are so happy with our dresses and it was tailored perfectly on us. Our hats were never delivered and thus we had to attend the funeral without a hat, although we are eligible since we are 9 and 12.
