Ch. 9 Missing Children

Just as Kronii was shutting the door to Irys' office, she could hear Calli talking to Irys and how she has an idea of where the children might be. Kronii smiles to herself after hearing that Calli was willing to help with the search. Only for her smile to turn into worry as she sees Mumei sitting down with her body shaking in fear. In this moment Kronii felt conflicted. Was it her place to insert herself in Mumei's family's affairs? The two friends who once drifted apart were now starting all over again. Kronii shook her doubt's away when she saw more tears start to show on Mumei's face.

Kronii: 'Get it together Kronii, Mumei clearly needs you more than ever right now. You are not going to give up on her like you did in high school. '

Kronii walks towards Mumei and knelt down next to her.

Kronii: "Good news, I just over heard Calli talking to Irys about a potential place the girls might be. We'll find them."

Kronii reached out towards Mumei's cheek and wiped away her tear stained cheek. Mumei leaned her head into Kronii's hand feeling warmth returning to her body. Mumei then looked Kronii in her eyes happy to hear the good news.

Mumei: "...Thank you Kronii for being here with me."

Kronii felt the warmth in Mumei's words. She almost forgotten how much she truly loved this woman.

Kronii: "I will always be there for you Mumei."

Mumei was the first of the two to stand up with Kronii fallowing her movements. Mumei held tight to Kronii's hand not wanting to let her go.

Mumei: "Sorry I must look like a total mess right now."

Mumei let's out a light hearted laugh, letting Kronii know that she was starting to feel better. Kronii smiled knowing that Mumei is going through a lot in the past few weeks that they have been reunited.

Kronii: "With all that has been happening today. I feel like you shouldn't worry to much. I mean what mother wouldn't be balling her eyes out after hearing that her daughter is missing. But, even still... I think you still look beautiful."

With Kronii's comment taking Mumei a bit of a surprise. She couldn't help but start to feel shy, as blush started to make her cheeks more red. It took Kronii a few seconds for her to realize that she just called Mumei beautiful.

Kronii: "...AAA!! W-What I mean that y-you are always pretty Mumei!! I'm n-not saying that you're as p-pretty as me of course. I-I mean you have your own charm!"

Kronii couldn't help but to kick herself internally, for being such a scattered brain.

Kronii: 'Shut Up Kronii! This is So not the time for you to be slipping up like this!'

Kronii looks back to Mumei with a worried glance. Mumei laughed out loud at Kronii. Feeling like it was just like high school all over again.

Mumei still looked pale and shaken up but still showed a smile at Kronii to show that she has calmed down a bit. Kronii slowly reached out her hand towards Mumei's hand. Their fingers grazing each other, as if both of them were hesitant at first. But seeing how Mumei didn't pull away. Kronii took Mumei's hand.

Kronii: "Ready?"

Kronii smiles once more at Mumei, giving her more courage to go and find her daughter together. Mumei nods as the two finally leaves Irys's office. As Kronii and Mumei leave the office the two notice that Calli has just finished getting her last statement from Anya's and Kobo's kindergarten teacher, Ceres Fauna. Mumei suddenly took some distance from Kronii as they waited for Calli taking her statement. Kronii looked puzzled by Mumei's distance, but only took it as a sign that Mumei didn't want others to see her weak side.

With the last word written down, Calli to her leave by Mumei and Kronii.

Calli: "And just as I suspected. It seems that Kobo is up to her shenanigans. Im sorry for getting Anya involved."

Mumei: "What happened?"

Calli: "Well... Kobo. Kobo is kind of a special case. She's in foster care, I only got to know Kobo through her recent runaways. Fauna told me that Kobo has been distancing herself from the other children. She called her foster care family asking about how she has been at home, but was told that Kobo got into trouble recently and was being childish. Apparently today one of the kids here wanted a toy from Kobo but Kobo refused to give it to them. Things got heated between them, and Kobo got pushed and started crying. Then Anya stepped in and tried to get Kobo's toy back causing the teachers to get involved. After things started to settled down that was when the teachers noticed that the two were missing. Luckily Kobo's brother told me there's a place that Kobo likes to run away to. If these two ran away then their most likely there."

Mumei: "Is it alright if we come along with you?"

Calli looked between Mumei and Kronii. As an officer of the law she knew that it was against the law to bring the family members into a missing child's case. But Calli knew them both back in highschool and knew that technically a missing child's doesn't open until 24 hours later. So it should be fine to have them fallow behind her.

Calli: "Technically no, but scenes the case hasn't officially been authorized I'll have you two follow behind me."

Calli giving them a subtle wink, letting them know that she's bending the rules a little for them. Calli got into her police cruiser while Kronii and Mumei fallowed behind her.
