To make the love between Selina and Andrew believable they chose to come up with a foolproof plan to show the officials they have nothing for each other but love for the future of the kingdom. As it's been believed that a king and queen's successful love for each other brings success to a kingdom, they can't let anyone think they don't love each other. In turn, they can't make it seem like Selina ran away. They planned on pretending to love each other right up to the wedding. Then, while Selina is on the run Andrew has supplied her with a getaway plan and he will be pretending to work on some official documents for his newfound role as king once the date for his coronation is in play.
The first step, Andrew needs to set up a dinner meeting with both Selina and the king. If he and Selina can make their love believable to his father, the officials will follow quickly. This won't be hard for Andrew as it's no secret he loves her, Selina on the other hand, has her own demons to face. Her relationship with her father won't leave her mind, and the idea that she could possibly be in love with the prince is one thing that she can't shove off.
As Selina spends more and more time with Andrew in the public eye, and more and more people view them as lovers, she finds it harder to pretend to love him. Sometimes she thinks that the way Andrew looks at her is his way of telling her that he knows she's no longer pretending. Is that really it though? It seems that the fears she had about him treating her poorly behind closed doors were a faulty fear. He was nothing but a gentleman. He always made sure she was safely escorted back home and in her bed snug and warm. She was always safe, he made her feel safe.
She wished he was cruel. She wished he didn't make her feel safe. She wished he wasn't so kind because it made her feel bad. She was just pretending to love him, and he genuinely loved her. Yet, she wasn't going to allow him to marry her happily. As the date for them to have dinner with the king and discuss wedding plans comes closer, she can see the sadness on his face. She wished he wasn't so kind because she wanted to just run away. Every time that thought comes to mind she feels worse.
