Chapter Five: Jennie Kim-Do Better

Tell myself I couldn't care less, Whatcha doing, if you're a mess? I ain't trying for you. I put you to rest.- Do Better  

I stood outside of the school reluctant to go inside. It was cool becaude of the rain but I had my umberalla up.

Already from where I stood I could see Nam Taehyun standing on the school steps. He was obviously waiting for someone and I had a sinking suspicion that someone was me.

My parents and his would love nothing more for the two of us to date. They practically have our wedding planned out already.

Sighing I closed my eyes. All the other girls in my year would think I'm crazy to be actually bidding from Taehyun. He's attecative, smart and rich. Every girls dream right? But not mines. I'm not interested in guys and dating. I'm only a first year and I'd rather concentrate on school and make friends. Which is proving to be harder than I thought it would be.

Girls don't seem to like me much.

Again I'm going to blame this on Nam Taehyun, he hasn't made his interest in me a secret and it's gained me enemeis.

At one point I even convinced my friend Hanbin to pretend date me to throw Taehyun off. It didn't work, he said he'd wait for me.

Groaning I scanned the outside of the school again praying someone I knew would appear soon so we could walk into school together and be a buffer between me and Taehyun. When I thought all hope was lost I saw Habin, Mino, and Jisoo jogging towards the school. Jisoo had a jacket over her head trying to ward off the heavy rain. It must be Mino's because his uniform jacket was missing.

I skipped over to them happily and grasped onto Jisoo's arm. "Save me." I said placing my umbrella over her as well. She sighed as she gave me the evil eye.

"Back off."

I held tightly to her arm refusing to let go. I don't know Jisoo, as well as I do Hanbin and Mino, but she's always looked out for me. When a group of girls tried to bully me she gave them one look and they all scattered. If it wasn't for the three of them I would be a true outcast here.

I've known Mino practically since I was born. When I was three his mom began working as the housekeeper at my home. At the time her husband was busy with work also and her oldest daughter with school so there was no one to watch Mino. Mom and dad allowed her to bring him along and he became my plamate. I idolized him and followed him around everywhere. It got to the point that I'd even begged to go with Song Min Ah, Mino's mom home, I was infatuated with her as well. She's so beautiful  and kind I really thing of her as a second mother.

"What's wrong kid?" Mino asked.

"She's avoiding that boy obviously." Hanbin replied. I pointed at him.

"What he said."

Jisoo rolled her eyes. "For God's sake just tell him you don't like him."

"Tired it already. He's convinced that we are soulmates."

We had reached the head of the stairs and she huffed as she threw Mino's jacket at him and rushed up the stairs to stop beside Taehyun. We were too far away to hear what she said to him but he looked flustered. She then took his arm and pulled him along with her into the school.

"Well that takes care of that." I said puzzled wondering what she said to him. I turned to Mino to ask what he was going to do after school today and stopped when I noticed a fierce scowl on his face.

Hanbin patted his back. "Take a deep breath." He said with laughter in his voice. "See yah." He waved at me as he entered the school most likely going to find his girlfriend.

"Are you ok?"

He nodded. "Yeah I'm fine its nothing."

I watched him concerned. He looked so sad and that's not like him. Mino is usually someone that seems like nothing fazed him. Noticing my look he ruffled my hair. "I said it's fine." He took my arm and propelled me into the school. "Stop worrying."

I decided to let it go. Whatever was bothering him if he wanted me to know he would tell me. I'd just have to wait until that time.
