You slowly open your eyes to the light of the afternoon sun. However, you quickly regret this as a wave a nausea hits you. You groan and bury your face into a pillow, wishing for it to go away. Your head is pounding and you take a deep breath, smelling the alcohol still lingering on your breath.
You slowly get up and stumble your way into the bathroom, wincing at the bright lights. You look over and glance at your reflection before doing a double take. You cringe at the sight, your hair was a tangled mess and the makeup you had worked so hard on was smeared all over your face.
As you begin to wash your face with cold water, you struggle to try and remember the events that had occurred last night. You remember doing shots and dancing with Clyde. Then the thoughts hit you like a truck. Oh god, Kyle really saw me like that. You cringe at yourself. God, he probably thinks I'm such a loser.
You mentally promise yourself to never drink that much ever again. After successfully washing your face, you stumble your way back into bed, hoping some extra rest may help you feel better. But you know no amount of extra sleep will help you cope with the embarrassment of your drunken behavior.
After a while of wallowing in your bed, you hear your phone vibrate on your nightstand. You pick it up to see who it was.
Kyle: Hey (Y/N), you feeling okay? I know last night was pretty rough...
You sigh and text him back, despite your pounding headache, you do feel a bit better.
(Y/N): yeah im alright. def wont be drinking that much again. thank you for helping me last night tho. i cant really remember what happened but i do know that you got me home safe so, thank you :)
A wave of relief and gratitude fill your body as you think about how much Kyle had helped you last night. You can't help but imagine how everything might have gone if Kyle wasn't there at your side. You think about how much of a good friend he is and someone that you know you can rely on.
You put your phone back onto the nightstand and sink into your pillow, but you feel a less alone in your misery, thanks to Kyle.
Bzzt. Bzzt.
Your phone buzzes again from the nightstand. You groggily grab it and look at the screen.
???: Hey (Y/N) its Clyde. Dunno where u went last night, i hope i didn't scare you off lol.
(Y/N): shit im so sorry its really embarrassing... i drank way to much and had to go home. im sorry for ditching you
Clyde: Nah its good. Do you maybe want to go out today?
You hesitated for a moment, not sure if you were ready to go out and socialize again. Thinking about it more, you could use a distraction and you wanted to get to know Clyde better.
(Y/N): Yeah sure sounds good
Clyde: Okay, meet me at Starks Pond.
He sends you the details, getting some fresh air might do your headache good. You get dressed and begin to walk over to the pond. As you get closer to the pond, you feel a mixture of nerves and excitement. You have only met this guy once before, but he seemed like a good guy.
When you arrive, you see Clyde sitting on a rock by the edge of the water. He greets you with a smile and you take a seat next to him.
"Hey! How's it going?" he asks you.
"Oh yeah I'm good... I'm sorry again about leaving so suddenly last night, I definitely wont be drinking that much ever again." you laugh sheepishly, still embarrassed about everything that happened.
"Don't be sorry, I'm just glad I didn't scare you off or anything" he chuckled.
The two of you talk for a while about your hobbies and such. You learn that he's really into football, and loves the Denver Broncos. He keeps cracking jokes in the hopes to make you smile, and does so successfully. He seems like a really nice guy you think to yourself.
Suddenly, Clyde leans back too far and begins to lose his balance. In the hopes of staying dry, he grabs your arms for stability. Unfortunately, this did not work and the two of you fall backwards into the pond.
The cool water hits your body and you sink into the water. You come up for air, sputtering and trying to catch your breath. You look over at Clyde and see his red and mortified face.
"Oh my god. IM SO SORRY" he yells to you, clearly embarrassed.
"I can't believe you grabbed me!" you laugh loudly, you couldn't help but see the humor in the situation. Clyde's face becomes more relaxed as he realizes you aren't mad at him.
"At least were in this together" he says sheepishly, giggling. You laugh and begin to walk back onto the land and out of the water. You clothes and hair are completely soaked from the fall. You sit back on the rock, trying to squeeze all the water out of your hair.
Clyde looks at you with a mischievous glint in his eyes. "How about we just swim for a while, I mean we are both already soaked" he says to you.
You raise your eyebrow at his suggestion, "you sure?" you ask, not sure if you're wanting to get back into the water. He nods his head and takes off his shirt, leaving his torso exposed. You feel your face turn red as he walks back into the water, beckoning you to follow him.
You hesitate for a moment, but then pull of your sweater to reveal a tank top underneath. You take off your shoes and run into the water, not caring anymore. Your tank top sticks to you like a second skin, and you can't help but feel a little exposed.
The two of you play around in the pond, splashing each other and trying to outswim one another. You giggle, you haven't felt so free in a long time.
The sun dips down and you feel the water becoming colder. You shiver a bit and tell Clyde you are getting out. You sit back on the rock, feeling content and relaxed, your hangover is no longer in your mind.
"I'm sorry again for pulling you in" the brown haired boy says to you.
"No worries, it turned out quite fun anyways" you giggle. As it was getting late, Clyde offers to walk you back to your house, a trail of water drips follow behind the two of you. You eventually make your way to the front of your house.
"Thanks for hanging out with me today, I really enjoyed it" you say to him, flashing him a smile.
"I am too. Thanks for not getting mad at me" he laughs. Before you can turn to enter your house, Clyde pulls you into a hug. You are surprised by this gesture, but you hug him back. He then gives you a smile and begins to walk away.
As you watch him walk away, you feel a warm happiness in your chest. I can't wait to see him again.
