Time For Some Fun

It was sad but in his gloomy, lovestruck misery, he didn’t realize how easy it was to avoid the others. Usually, by now someone like Aphmau or his dear big brother Garroth would have at least checked up on him; but no, no one has come. But Zane was too occupied by his troubles in life to have realized that. But almost as if stars and moon have collided, all of those possible questions were going to be answered; whether Zane liked it or not.

The first sign something fishy was going on was the next party invite. Usually, Aphmau doesn't bother with physical invites; she knows it's useless since Zane would just ignore it, and she only lived a couple of seconds away. Though for some reason she decided on one for this party, and this was not just some normal invite, it looked expensive; the fake kind but still.

The second red flag was the location, it wasn’t at her house but instead at a nice little beach at the seaside, not too far away from here.

The third thing which confused him was underneath the location was a list of all of those who were coming. It was short but it seemed pretty normal except for the fact Katelyn was listed first and there was no sight of Travis on the list. This one confused him the most because this seemed right up his alley; a romantic beach night with the person he loved the most? Did Katelyn insist that he not come as to not embarrass her?

He was stumped, and sadly he knew there was only one way to get any answers to this weird puzzle. He would have to go to the party himself. Although it pained him, he knew there was no way he was going to get this god awful party off his mind.

So Zane went to his closet, and after 24 minutes of agony finally pulled out a decent outfit. It was basically what he always wears but he picked out the clothes with the least amount of stains and got out his old black fake leather jacket, which was actually pretty cool. He just had no reason to wear it so it sat around collecting dust.

After cleaning his clothes, which he put the most effort into any outfit for a party since Aphmau’s wedding he just realized, he simply waited. And though the party was only happening tomorrow, this was seemingly the hardest part. He guessed the anticipation and pure mystery of the whole situation was eating away at him. But somehow he did manage to fall asleep, after eating a LOT of chocolate. He was hungry ok?

When he woke up he still had almost 2 hours before the party; so he got ready, ate food, took his shower, and put on the clothes he picked out for the party. He played games on his phone until he got into his car and drove to the beach; he was about 15 minutes early but it seemed that everyone was there already.

‘Weird, I know at least someone like Garroth is always late,' Zane thought, but he brushed it off and walked towards the beach. From afar it seems as if they were in a heated debate about something, but when Zane came close into view everyone stopped and it was all smiles; even Dante smiled at him which just creeped him out.

Aphmau was the first to say hello, “OH ZANE! I’m so happy you came! And it looks like you dressed up yourself for the occasion!”
“Yeah yeah, whatever. What even is this party about? And why the weird invite?”
“Oh come on, don’t look so sour! Just trust me, you're going to have a blast!”
“If you say ‘come on’ one more time I swear-”

But before Zane could finish his sentence Aphmau already took his arm and started dragging him to one of the little events set up, “We have already started playing Kan Jam! And lucky for you Katelyn doesn't have a partner yet, so you will be hers!”

“Hooray,” Zane said in his most defeated voice.

The game was fine at best, Katelyn being amazing at it, as she is with every sport, and Zane being subpar. Honestly, Katelyn alone could have won the game, and she was the only reason they even came close. But once the game was done Aphmau took no time getting everyone at the next game, not giving them a chance to rest.
