The hard snow below my feet made it difficult for me to feel my toes.

Despite the cloth layer I have under my ebony armor, it still burned then became numb.

The fact that I'm running for my life at the moment isn't helping me keep warm either.

Finding a large enough tree I quickly run and hide behind it trying to catch my breath as quietly as possible.

Taking out my dagger that my father had gifted me before my journey, I hold it close to my chest and I listen.

I listen for any movement either from the snow or trees around me. Any sound would help me locate the threat.

Hearing crunching sounds I inhale deeply, getting ready to attack any second. The footsteps of the person sounds as they are searching around, waiting for a noise to be made by me as well.

Holding my breath as they approach close the the tree I'm hiding behind, I hear them let out a sigh before walking off.

Hearing their footsteps fade away I decide to wait a couple more minutes before letting out the breath I've been holding. I let my body slide down the tree all while trying to control my trembling body.

Whoever decided to pick me as the Dragonborn should be fired. They obviously have no idea what they were doing.

How could they possibly pick me to be the Dragonborn– the person to have the blood and soul of a dragon.

I'm young, clueless and afraid of everything. I hardly know any magic, only basic restoration which my mother had taught me.

I'm great with a sword when in training with my father or with the companions in Whiterun however, when it comes to an actual life or death moment, I freeze.

My fight or flight kicks in and not too long ago I fled.

I tried traveling to Windhelm to visit my father who had recently arrived there. He had sent out a letter saying he would be there for a week and if I have a chance to meet up with him there.

There's no way I'll ever make it to Windhelm.

Feeling my eyes become filled with tears I stand up slowly walking away from the trees and onto the main path.

Putting my dagger away I dig through my bag searching for my map. Once out I unroll it trying to see where I can possibly go. Riften isn't too far from my location, plus I've never been there before.

Back in Whiterun I don't recall hearing anyone speak of Riften, perhaps it's not a city to visit?

Whatever it may be, I need to gain more experience before deciding to pursue my path as the Dragonborn.
