Chapter 7

| "I'm surprised you didn't slip. Since it's snowy and all." I said to him.

"Heh, I wouldn't say I didn't slip. I did a little." He said as he got in the tree house.

I chuckled as he got in and stood next to me. I walked over to the small chest and opened it. I went over it and looked for my flip phone that I left here the night before so the both of us could listen to music.

"It's really nice in here. It's pretty warm too."

"Yeah, I'm glad it isn't cold in here. If it was I wouldn't have mentioned us going here in the first place."

As I dug around in the chest I found my flip phone and a pair of ear buds. I closed the chest and sat with my back against it. Sal walked over and sat next to me with his knees up to his chest. I plugged in my ear buds and found a nice song for us to listen to. I handed him an ear bud as I put on the song for us. He grabbed it and placed it in his ear.

"Is this Sanity Fall?" He questioned.

I looked at him then down at my phone.

"No, it's much more of a softer kind of band, they're not as much of heavy metal. I wanted it to fit the mood." I told him.

"Oh, well.. I like it, it's calming.."

I smiled and looked up at the sealing of the tree house, our only source was the light coming from the apartments. It all made the mood better.

"Hey Y/n, can I tell you something?"

I looked back at him with his eyes meeting mine.

"Sure, what's up Sally Face?" I took off my ear bud so I could hear him better.

"I know what you did, with making yourself and Larry leave so i could eat.. d-dont get me wrong I'm glad that you knew that I was uncomfortable.." He looked away at the floor and started to play with his fingers.

"I don't know why I felt uncomfortable there. I trust you and Larry with everything and anything.. it's just that I'm really.. self conscious about my face.."

I felt my expression grow a little sad. I felt a little guilty for what he said.

"So I wanna say sorry for making the both of you leave like that. I shouldn't have-"

"Sal, you have nothing to apologize for. Nothing. If you aren't comfortable with showing us your face then you can't force yourself too. Me and Larry understand completely, so don't worry. Okay?"

He looked up at me and stopped fidgeting with his fingers. I could see through his mask that his eyes widened a bit.

"So don't apologize for something that you're uncomfortable with. Don't be too hard on yourself Sal."

I smiled at him softly then hummed to myself as I looked away from him. But I could still feel him looking at me. Then I sighed and stood up.

"Well, we better get going. It's only gonna get colder and this tree house won't keep us warm forever."

"Yeah, you're right." Sal said as he stood up too.

"Plus, Larry might be looking for us or something.." I said.

Sal chuckled and walked over to me.

"Yeah, he might think the ghosts took us." He said jokingly.

I chuckled and nudged his arm.

"Let's go before we give the poor guy a heart attack." |
