I look out of my windows in my office; the streets of Busan are quiet, which is not a normal thing here. The sun is beginning to rise over the tallest building in the area, casting hues of orange across the sky. I get up from my seat and begin walking towards the windows, as I take a half empty water bottle with me. I do small flips with the water bottle before I look down onto the streets before cooking an eyebrow.
"Okay, normally it is still busy at this time? I can't see any accidents." Before I know it, my office door slams open, and a picture from my college time falls down on the light, wooden floor. The frame and glass shatter all over the place and the pictures gets some cuts on it. I rush over to it and I quickly pick it up and look at it, I don't even look at who the idiot is.. The picture is a black and white picture of the friend group from my graduation from law school. We are all smiling with big, goofy, happy smiles. It was taken before we decided to follow all of our parents footsteps and step into the mafia world full time, well mostly halftime for me. I turn towards the door and my secretary looks at me with wide eyes.
" Ma'am, I am so sorry! The door just fell out of my hands!" She bows while uttering it, as I begin walking towards her, slowly feeling a fire starting inside of me. A fire that only comes out when I am really angry.
"I have told you so many times so open it nicely! How can you be so stupid and keep opening the door with so much violence!" I look at her with burning eyes. Before my eyes I can see her shrink and start to back out.
"Oh no! We are not done with this, before I even think to fire you, run out and get me a new frame to my picture. I do not care if it takes you all day! I want the same frame, you can only get it in Seoul! Start driving now!" I know that I might be a little emotional with this, but it is an important picture from me and it can only get the best frames and that is in Seoul.
"Ma'am... Seoul is 4 hours away... It will take me more than 8 hours to get it... " I look at her and an evil smile begins to form on my lips.
"Oh I know, but I was not the one breaking it, did I?" I tilt my head and stare into her eyes, my voice dripping with sarcasm. She sinks some spit and shakes her head, while she starts to tremble a little bit.
"N-no... you did not Ma'am. I will get it done!" She bows a few more times before she runs out with the picture to make sure it fits. I try to calm myself down and walk in a few slow circles while a lazy hand runs through my raven black hair. I shake my head and close my eyes and take a few deep breaths, just like Vathek has taught me; well also Matt, since we both have big anger issues.
After a few minutes I am pretty much calm again, but I know it will take a few hours before I am totally calm. I start to pick up all of the pieces of broken glass that are scattered across the ground and a ragged breath escapes my lips. I am in my own world so I do not see nor hear my friend arriving and is standing in front of me with wrinkled brows.
"Wow, what happened here? Are you okay Chae-Young?" His deep baritone utters. I turn my gaze towards the voice with squinted eyes as they scintillate with anger, but they immediately soften when they identify Dong-Hyun. I smile.
"Ahh Oppa! What are you doing here, is there anything that I can help you with?" I respond while tilting my head slowly to the right side as I stand up slowly. Dong-Hyun smiles a bit, but I can detect in his face that there is something bothering him.
"Well... As you may not know Lasgras killed someone yesterday again. This time it was a rapist which they normally avoid, whereas it is quite interesting why they decided to act on it. I was on my way to go look at the crime scene and I thought since you are going to help me with the legal side, you may wanted to go with me?" He looks at me with a hopeful glaze.
I nod my head and walk towards my trashcan to dump some of the broken class. I look back at him while I get my jacket, phone and bag.
"Well of course! It is an easy day today, so I do not mind at all going with you to the crime scene. Hopefully you will catch Lasgras, they are really making people, including me, scared of being in the city."
"Kamsahamnida! It will help a lot!, and I am trying my best" He looks almost relieved that I said yes to come with him, so I smile back at him and walk over to him. "Then we better get going then!"
Blue and red lights from the sirens on the police cars are illuminating the streets, warning everybody not to step foot inside the accident site. Dong-Hyun walks with a fast pace towards the body, as I follow him close from behind before both of us duck underneath the warning tape. I look around and try to look grossed out with the blood splattered all over the place, even though I feel no fear at all.
"An elderly lady called in about the body. It looks like he was stabbed a few times with high heels, and for some weird reason, one of the group members left both shoes here? It gives us an idea that at least one of them is a woman, we do know they are a group of 4 ish members." He looks at me with an evident question mark on his face.
"She left her shoes? Who in the hell leaves her shoes here! It is so dirty!" I shake my head, but on the inside I am pretty much dying of laughter.
"It is a weird find and we already have looked for fingerprints on them, but she was smart enough to pour soju over them to wipe out the fingerprints... So we have no idea who it was, but we do know that she is from Lasgras since she has written their name on the body" He lets out a frustrated sigh and gives me a look that indicates how tired of Lasgras he is, making me bite my tongue so I don't let out a laugh.
"Not going to lie. It was a pretty good idea with the soju, but I can totally understand that it is annoying that you can't catch her and the others. But I am sure you will at some point! You are one of the best cops here in Busan." I smile a reassuring smile as I walk over to him and put a hand on his right shoulder.
"I really hope so, Chae-Young, I really do. It would be so nice to finally get them off the streets and I just wanted to show you how bad they are and why I need your help to make sure that they stay locked up behind bars. When I catch them, are you able to look at the body?"
"Y-You want me to look at a dead body? In person and not in pictures like normal?" I look shocked at him while I force my voice to stutter even though I couldn't care less. But fake it until you make it I guess.
"If you can, yes, but it is also okay if you can't. I know that you are an innocent girl who has not seen dead bodies in person before." He gives me a small smile.
"I-I can try?" I roll my eyes on the inside, dead bodies? Boy... I kill these idiots for fun. Before he can say anything I walk over to the body as I make sure to look like I am afraid... of what I have done myself. I reach down to pull away the cover on the body, and to make my acting look real, I let out a small scream and I throw up beside the man.
"Omo! Chase-young!" Dong-Hyun runs over to me and rubs my back, while he makes sure that my hair does not get dirty.
"I am so sorry, I should not have letten you see it. Let me atleast drive you home... I feel bad about this. " He helps me back up on my feet and I lean on him. He holds me close to him, while we walk back to his car. I make sure that most of my hair is over my face, so I hide my small smile and eye roll. He opens the door and gets me onto the seat, where he looks at me.
"I am so sorry, I should not have let you look at him... Please forgive me. "
"It is okay Oppa..." I look at him and smile a bit before he closes the door and walks over to the other side.
