As I slowly woke up from my deep slumber, a searing pain stabbed me in my back, causing me to twist and turn in bed, desperately searching for a comfortable position.
The discomfort still gnawed at me so I snuggle closer to Malachi and wrap my arm around his body, pushing the pain to the back of my head thinking it'll go away or atleast reduce the pain if i try not to think about it.
But despite my best efforts to ignore it, the ache persisted and became unbearable so i sat up in the bed and sobbed.
I reached over to the night stand and checked the time on my phone, realizing that it's almost 5:30 which means i'd have to get ready to go to work.
I placed my chin on my knee and continued to sob, which made Malachi wake up from his sleep.
"Aniyah," He called, his husky and groggy voice laced with concern.
I didn't respond to him because of the lump in my throat and he sat up on the bed and spun my head to face his.
His expression softened when he saw my face soiled with tears and he caressed my hand with his thumb.
"Wahm to yuh?" He asked and i wiped the tears off with the back of my hand.
"My back hurts," I whimpered, my voice trembling with pain.
Malachi let out a deep sigh and asked me where it hurt.
As I pointed to the spot, he began to rub it gently.
The pressure felt good, but the pain was still there, sharp and unrelenting.
"It just start hurt yuh?" He asked while massaging the spot and i nod my head.
"Yeah. A mostly likely true me period a come cause it due this week," I told him with my voice breaking.
He stayed silent as he continued to massage my back, kneading the knots and tension out of my aching muscles.
But then the pain intensified and began to travel through my back and I cried even more.
Malachi rose from the bed and made his way to the kitchen, returning with a pain relief pill and a glass of water.
