It was the day of the much-needed conversation between Zac and Fatima. They had been dancing around their feelings for too long, and it was finally time to clear the air. Both of them sat nervously across from each other in Nana's cozy living room, stealing glances but unable to meet each other's eyes for long. There was a tension in the air, but it wasn't born out of anger—just uncertainty.
Fatima's thoughts were swirling. She loved Zac deeply, but the situation with Maya had thrown her into emotional turmoil. Could she really move past the baby scare? Would their relationship survive? Meanwhile, Zac sat quietly, his heart heavy with fear. He was worried that Fatima had grown tired of him—that she no longer wanted to be with him after everything that had happened.
Nana, sitting comfortably in her chair, took in the awkward silence between the two. She had seen enough young couples dance around their feelings to know this needed a push in the right direction. Finally, she spoke up.
"Now let's get to the bottom of this," Nana said, her voice calm but firm. "Fatima, how do you feel right now?"
Fatima shifted in her seat, her hands clasped tightly in her lap. "I feel... confused," she admitted, her voice small but honest. "I just don't know what I want or how to feel right now."
Nana nodded, her gaze softening. "And why do you think you feel that way?"
Fatima took a deep breath. "I'm hurt because... because Maya could have been carrying Zac's baby. And we'll never know for sure. That's hard for me to accept."
Nana turned her attention to Zac, who had been listening quietly. "Zac, how do you feel about all this?"
Zac looked down at his hands before speaking. "I feel like Fatima doesn't want to be with me anymore... because of the whole baby situation." His voice cracked slightly, betraying his vulnerability.
Fatima's eyes widened. "Zac, that's not how I feel."
"Well, that's how you're making me feel, Ti," Zac replied, his frustration bubbling to the surface. "It's like you're pushing me away."
"I'm not trying to push you away, Zac," Fatima said quickly, feeling a pang of guilt. "I just... I'm not sure how to handle everything."
Zac sighed. "I know you're not trying, but that's still how it feels."
Fatima hesitated, then glanced at her grandmother before speaking again. "I think it's time I tell you about what Maya meant when she said I couldn't give you the same thing."
Nana raised a brow. "Baby, are you sure you want to go there?"
Fatima nodded resolutely. "Yes, Nana. I need to say it."
Zac looked at her with concern. "Ti, if you're not ready, you don't have to tell me. I don't want you to feel pressured."
Fatima shook her head. "No, Zac, you deserve to know. I had an abortion two years ago."
Zac blinked in surprise, his face softening with confusion and concern. "What? Why?"
Fatima took a deep breath, her hands trembling slightly. "I got pregnant by someone I was in love with at the time. But he... he abused me, Zac. And I didn't leave him. My parents found out about the abuse and the pregnancy on the same day. They did something to him—I never asked what—but I haven't seen him since. They gave me a choice about the baby, and I chose to get the abortion. I didn't want to bring a child into that situation."
Zac sat in stunned silence, processing everything Fatima had just revealed. He reached out and gently took her hand. "Thank you for telling me," he said softly. "I know that couldn't have been easy."
Fatima looked down at their intertwined hands, tears welling up in her eyes. "It wasn't. But I needed you to know."
Zac nodded, his voice sincere. "T, I just want you to know that you can talk to me about anything. I'm sorry if I've ever made you feel like you couldn't."
Fatima frowned. "What are you sorry for?"
"For putting you in this situation," Zac said, guilt heavy in his voice. "For everything with Maya... I never wanted to hurt you."
"You didn't put me in this situation, Zac," Fatima said gently. "I just... I should've communicated better with you about how I was feeling. I promise I'll try to do better."
"We both need to do better," Zac agreed, squeezing her hand.
Nana, who had been watching them quietly, clapped her hands together, breaking the emotional tension. "Now was it really that hard to sit down and talk? Y'all should've done this a long time ago!"
Fatima smiled weakly. "I know, Nana."
"Good," Nana said with a satisfied nod. "Now, get the hell out of my house."
Fatima blinked. "What? Nana, seriously?"
"Yes, girl!" Nana waved her hands dismissively. "I got a man coming through, and I don't need y'all sitting around here sulking. Get out. Don't come back for three days."
Fatima chuckled, rolling her eyes. "Fine, Nana. I love you. I'll see you later."
"Love you too, but don't come back too soon!" Nana called after them as they left.

Later that day, Fatima and Zac arrived at his place. They both felt lighter, as if a weight had been lifted off their shoulders.
"Thank you for being patient with me," Fatima said softly, leaning into Zac's shoulder. "That's why I love you."
"That's what I'm supposed to do," Zac replied, wrapping an arm around her. "And I love you too."
Just as they were about to settle in, there was a knock at the door. Zac frowned and stood up to answer it.
"Hello?" Zac asked as he opened the door.
A stranger stood on the doorstep, looking slightly nervous. "Hi, um... is Fatima here?"
Zac's expression hardened. "Who's asking?"
The man shifted uncomfortably. "I'm her ex."
Zac's jaw tightened. "What are you here for?"
Before the man could answer, Fatima appeared at the top of the stairs. "Babe, who's at the do—"
Her words froze in her throat as her eyes locked on the man standing at the door. "Ju?" she gasped, her face paling.
The air in the room went still.
OOOOOOHHHHHHH CHILE
