Chapter 2

Kanat raised his head to see who had entered and saw Ekim standing there, staring at him. He looked at her facial features and the clothes she was wearing, which fit her well. He couldn't deny that if they were outside the company, he might act differently, but he needed to be polite since they were in the workplace.
Kanat: Will you stay there?
Ekim noticed the rigid and cold look on his face, and she became nervous as she approached his desk to stand in front of him.
Ekim: Aham! Good morning, sir. My name is Ekim, and I'm here to apply for the job position.
Kanat looked at her for a moment before glancing down at her application form.

Kanat: I see that you don't meet all of our requirements, Ms. Ekim.
Ekim: I understand, sir. But I am a hard worker and a quick learner. I am also fluent in three languages and have experience in a similar field.
Kanat: That's good to hear. However, we are looking for someone with more experience and education from a prestigious university.
Ekim: I understand, sir. But I am willing to work hard and prove myself. If given the opportunity, I won't disappoint you.
Kanat looked at her for a moment before nodding his head.
Kanat: Very well, Ms. Ekim. If there's an opportunity, we will contact you.
Kanat turned his attention to the next file. Ekim remained seated until Kanat raised his head to look at her questioningly.

Kanat: Is there anything else, Ms. Ekim?
Ekim snapped back to reality and immediately got up.
Ekim: No, I'm sorry. Thank you, Mr. Kanat.
Ekim left the office, trying to catch her breath. She took a taxi to her home but stopped at a store to buy diapers first. Night fell and Ekim was sitting with Leyla, feeding Ayla with a baby bottle while chatting with Leyla.
Leyla: Are you sure it was him, Ekim? Maybe you're mistaken.
Ekim: Leyla, do you think I'm silly? Maybe I am, but I'm positive it was him. I could never forget that face or that voice.
Leyla: Did he recognize you?
Ekim: No, he didn't remember me at all. It's clear that he does this often. I wouldn't be surprised if Ayla has siblings.

Leyla lughed
Leyla: What will you do then?
Ekim: I don't know. They won't accept me anyway. He said I don't meet their requirements, so my chances are close to zero percent. I'll search for work again tomorrow.
At that moment, Alanur came with three cups of tea. Ayla started to fall asleep, so Ekim closed the baby bottle.
Alanur: Burp her, Ekim! When will you do it without me reminding you?
Ekim adjusted Ayla's position and patted her back softly while kissing her cheeks multiple times and playing with her. She then turned to Alanur when she spoke.
Alanur: Whether you worked there or not, you need to tell him about his daughter, got it??
Ekim: Mom, I've told you many times since I arrived that I can't tell him. What if he wants to take her away from me?

Alanur: It's not that simple, Ekim! But he should know, at least to help pay for her treatment. Your daughter is getting older and the surgery date is approaching. Can you tell me how you'll afford it, Mrs. Ekim?
Ekim: I'll handle it the same way I would have if I hadn't met him, Mom. And we don't know what will happen by that time. I'm sure everything will work out fine.
Ekim said and kissed Ayla's head. Aziz came home at that time and was directing to his room but Ekim stopped him.
Ekim: At least say hi to the young girl, dear uncle!!!!
Aziz looked at her wryly then knelt to Ayla sitting on Ekim's lap and started caressing her while laughing.
Aziz: Her uncle's sweetheart!!! How are you? Did you miss me? Let me kiss you!!!

Aziz kissed her and then got up.
Leyla: How's your exams going, Aziz?
Aziz: Good! I'm in my room!
Aziz left and Leyla's reaction turned sad. Aziz is Ekim's twin, but he failed about 2 years in college due to his career in football. After Ekim's deed, their relationship was strained. His relationship with Leyla also became tense, despite their liking for each other. But he was trying to be a father figure to Ayla.
At Kanat's house, they gathered at the dining table for lunch.
Adam: Where's Hazal?
Seher: She's with her friends, she's staying at Deren's home today.
Adam: Well, let's start eating.
After they started, Melisa, who was Kanat's cousin and fiancee at the same time, looked at Kanat's hand.
