One week has passed since the Kimchi soup disaster and the two kept in touch. They hung out a couple of times, they texted each other and they even stayed up for late night calls. Their relationship was growing smoothly and both Y/n and Jungkook could feel the connection which was forming between them. They eventually came to the realization that they love to spend time with each other. It was unexpected and that made the fall even more intriguing.
Today is Saturday and the sun which shines on the clear sky is slowly melting the snow. It is weird, since it has been snowing for the past few weeks. Now, all of a sudden, people got a sneak peak of the spring weather. However, the sunlight was enough to wake Jungkook up and lure him into performing a morning run.
Breathing heavily, Jungkook stops in front of his apartment's door. It's 8 a.m. He's been out for two hours already and the exhausting running session has left him feeling refreshed. The temperature outside is really warm and it was a great opportunity to relax that he took for granted. It would have been a pity to stay inside while the weather outside was so perfect. Twisting the keys, he opens the door and, as he walks inside his house, he wipes the sweat off of his forehead. He should head straight to the shower, but he pulls the phone out of his pocket and unlocks it, opening the Message App. There is another thing that he absolutely loves to do in the morning besides running: texting Y/n.
Yawning, Y/n walks up to the kitchen, dragging her feet after herself as she feels her body sore. She thinks she's catching a cold, but maybe it's all in her head. A message pops up on her phone and she makes a note in her mind to check it later. She needs coffee first. Maybe a warm cup of bitter-sweet caffeine is going to make her look like a human again. So, after pouring the aromatic liquid into a random cup, she walks lazily towards the couch, picking up her phone along the way. She also turns on the tv, but the voices become muffled sounds in the background when Y/n unlocks the phone to see Jungkook's message. A smile immediately pops up on her face and it seems like the cup of coffee would never have the power to wake her up the same way Jungkook's sweaty face did. He sent her a picture of him holding a bottle of water. He had a white towel resting on his shoulders and his face was glistening in the morning light. Squealing, Y/n places the cup on the coffee table and reads the bunch of words attached to the picture: 'Just finished my morning run routine. I'm going to have a shower now.' Y/n finds herself blushing upon reading the text and the thought which suddenly comes into her mind slips down her tongue and out of her mouth under the form of an unconscious whisper. "Wish I could join you..."
"No limit in the sky that I won't fly for you..." — Jungkook sings as the water runs down his back. "No amount of tears in my eyes that I won't cry for you..." — he continues as he rinses his hair. "Oh no..." — his voice lowers an octave. "With every breath that I take, I want you to share that air with me..." — he sings from the bottom of his soul as his mind wraps around the woman he's silently dedicating this song to. "There's no promise that I won't keep, I'll climb a mountain, there's none too steep..." — the familiar details of Y/n's figure flash before his eyes, her image building up in the back of his head and persisting as he sings the next lyrics of his favourite song. "When it comes to you, there's no crime, let's take both of our souls and intertwine, when it comes to you, don't be blind, watch me speak from my heart when it comes to you, comes to you." — he finishes singing the song with a lingering feeling left inside his stomach.
As he turns the water tap off, he finds himself missing Y/n. He bites his lower lip and his hand grasps the glass panel. Will he ever have the courage to confess his feelings? After all, she deserves someone better. The words he sang earlier were just empty promises that he wouldn't have been able to keep. Even though that's what he feels. And he can't deny it. Sighing, he pushes away the thoughts and, getting out of the shower cabin, he makes his way through the heavy steam. Picking up a random towel, he presses the soft material against his skin, drying himself up. It is kind of pointless, however. He is already sweating due to the heat inside the bathroom. He walks closer to the sink and, with his right hand, he wipes away the fog which covers his reflection. Looking at himself in the mirror, he clenches his jaw and the thought of leaving Y/n for her own safety strikes him again. The scar which is located on his left part of the chest, right above the heart, bitterly reminds him about what kind of person he is. And how he should keep his distance from the woman he is falling in love with.
Y/n turns off the TV and stands up from the couch. She regrets it right after as she falls right back on the soft cushions, a terrible dizziness making her head spin. Trying to keep herself together, she shakes her head and the light-headed state fades away slowly. Clearing her throat, she tries to stand up again, this time maintaining her balance. She nods and keeps walking, placing the empty cup in the sink. She opens the door of the fridge to find some food, but she closes it again right after she notices a yellow post-it glued to it. Meanwhile, Jungkook finishes eating breakfast and unlocks his phone when a random notification pops up. And realization strikes them both as their eyes follow the outline of the very same words:
