The Mermaid Pirate

Chapter 1

"Finished!" said my mother in excitement, "you look absolutely gorgeous! His parents will adore you."

I pulled at the pearl necklace, as it was tight around my neck. This top was absolutely stunning, I just didn't want to go through with this.
"What if I don't want to marry this man, mother?" i said looking myself up and down in the mirror, thinking I looked way too good for any man in the ocean.

"Don't be silly, Ophelia. Once you meet him you will fall for him, I promise you."

"But mother, I want to fall in love with someone naturally, not forcefully!" I cried, getting a little annoyed.

"Ophelia! Do not give me that tone! Darling, please just try. Meet him first maybe.. he'll be here to meet the family in about half an hour."

I shook my head and swam away off to my room.

"I really don't want to get married just yet! What if I don't love him?? I'll be forever stuck with him for the rest of my life! I know.. tonight I'll swim away from home. I'll go venture the sea, meet new merpeople, maybe even run into some pirates!" I thought to myself, getting really excited. I'm completely about to abandon my family and friends here, but I am not marrying this merman.

Time passed by as I pack some of my stuff in a bag I was gifted. I'll need these clothes for when I'm on land..

I hear a knock on my bedroom door, so I quickly hide ny bag and answer my bedroom door. "Hello, you must be Ophelia, Ophelia Pearl?" a fine merman asks me "I'm Jack Wellerman, nice to meet you!"

"Nice to meet you too, Jack" I say smiling. Jack.. that name sounds familiar. He isn't that bad looking, but I'm still being cautious. "Would you like a tour of the castle?" I offer.

"Of course m'lady" he says as he directs his hand, leading me out out of the bedroom.

As I show him around Pearl Palace, he seems nicer and nicer as time goes by. Maybe this won't be so bad!
"And this is the book room! I spend most of my time here when I'm locked inside the castle."

"Locked in the castle? What do you mean by that?" Jack W. says, looking at me with concern.

"Well yeah. My parents don't let me go outside of the castle because it's supposedly dangerous. They don't like pirates.. especially Salazar. Not sure why, they have not told me."

"Pirates? Why would mermaids dislike pirates? Aren't they like.. best friends with eachother? I've ran into pirates before, and they're very kind. I would watch out for Salazar though, he's dangerous." he said in confusion.

"I have no idea.. I've been spending my days in this library trying to unlock the truth.." i walk into the library and look around, it's the second biggest room in the entire castle, the ballroom being the first.
