The house was stone cold silent when Harry and Jasper arrived.

The pair shared a look before climbing the stairs and going inside.

They found the family in the dining room. Carlisle stood in the doorway to the kitchen, he was on the phone -Harry assumed with Edward- and held a solemn look on his face.

The rest of the family looked similar, Rosalie looked like she was about to pass out. A concerned Bree holding her hand atop the heavily varnished table. Emmett protectively stood over both of them.

Alice and Esme were clutching hands at the other end of the table, faces stricken.

The tension in Jasper's shoulders grew by the second, he looked a little dazed trying to cope with the emotions in the room.

Harry examined the Cullen's faces and tried to decide what to do.

Carlisle finished his call and turned worried eyes to Jasper.

"It's Bella." he started, hesitating.

Damn, had Edward killed her? Was the passion of a honeymoon too much for the poor man child to handle? Had he confused what waiting till marriage actually meant? Or just taken the words till death to us part too literally? He was already technically dead after all.

"She..." Carlisle broke off a second time, apparently struggling to find the words.

"She's pregnant." Rosalie helpfully finished. Tone icy.

Harry had to prevent himself from physically reeling from this news, that should be...

"Impossible." snapped Jasper, looking almost offended.

"Practically, though could just be theoretically improbable." Harry said before he could help himself, his mind whirling through any and all possibilities.

She was alive and young, her apparent mind blocking abilities displayed some level of the strangeness the Cullen's had. The almost magic that coated them.

Edward was technically dead but apparently that didn't stop the ability to have sex, so surely at least some part of his 'system' was active.

Unless of course, she was sleeping with a human on the side. Though that seemed unlikely given the devotion she showed Edward.

Harry tilted his head in consideration, thinking.

"No, it's impossible." Jasper insisted, Harry tried not to roll his eyes. They had no idea what magic was capable of.

"She can't be." muttered Rosalie, words cracking as she spoke. Bree's hold on her hand tightening.

"She won't be for much longer." said Alice, trying to sound reassuring. Her gaze steadily on Carlisle, who nodded mournfully.

"They're only a few hours away. When she's here, I can assess her. Then we can explore the options of terminating the pregnancy." The finality in his tone sent anger through Harry's veins.

"Sorry, I must have missed something. Only, it sounds like you've made the decision already." his firm gaze held Carlisle accountable.

Carlisle sighed.
