EVERYTHING HAS AN ENDING

EVERYTHING HAS AN ENDING.

Relationships, friendships, life — they were all revolving doors waiting to stop spinning; the illusions of their constant turns distracting us from the ticking clock measuring our time alive.

However, Carolina Myers refused to step through those doors. She always held a grudge with the hour-by-hour ticktock indicating when she'd die — in her eyes, she would decide when she'd die, not the universe.

The concept of death was familiar to her, having watched others crumble under its chokehold. Death waited for no one, bided to no one's advances, and certainly couldn't care about its inconvenience. It took pleasure in claiming its next innocent victim; enclosing their throats with gelid fingers and relishing the sounds of final breaths being taken. It stole lives full of joy and buried them under six feet of putrid dirt, punishing them to an afterlife full of silence.

Out of refusal to an early death to the grave, Carolina would stake her life on the question buzzing inside her head. All she wanted was answers to an ending she wasn't willing to accept, an ending that haunted her and changed the course of her being

Though the community of Coney Bay disregarded the strangeness of their town; the alerting amount of people that went missing, the paranoia clouding every person's sense of judgment, even the unexplainable terror that hung in the air, Carolina hadn't. The itch in her brain had become unbearable, leaving her with an unquenched curiosity, the sort that many warned her to ignore.

If everything in life had an ending, who's to say death is out of the equation? If death did have the ability to cause endings — then how come Este Rothschild's failed to be concluded?
