We all should remember the story of Goldilocks, where a blonde barges into a building belonging to a band of bears and breaks their beds and bowls, but this story is different in quite a few ways.

Meet the Beardsley family: the father Stanley, his wife Jennifer, and their son Aiden. Despite their last name having "Bear" in there, the trio wasn't a family of bears at all, but they were humans. Their home was a little cottage that was in a clearing of the big forest, a house which was built by Stanley's great-grandfather, and it was well-furnished to have an old-fashioned tone from the furniture to the television set. Their days were usually spent with meals together and work or playtime in between, and the three of them had things to do both in and out of the cottage. While Stanley taught Aiden how to upholster furniture that was falling apart, Jennifer enjoyed collecting honey from the bees and cooking, and Aiden also helped his mother with gardening.

One afternoon after a big breakfast, the family heard a weather report on television saying that there were going to be a few clouds ahead, but no rain on the radar. Stanley proposed that the family should go on a long walk, but Jennifer worried that the report was wrong, especially since that was the station's third weather woman hired that year. Seeing how his wife's worries were reasonable, Stanley agreed and suggested that they each take an umbrella just to be safe.

When asked what dinner should be after their hike, Aiden piped up and asked if they could have ready-made spaghetti, which was something he had been asking about for a few weeks. Even though his parents tried to tell him that such a meal didn't exist, Aiden remained hopeful that he'd have it someday before they got ready to go. After getting their umbrellas out and grabbing their water bottles for the walk, the three of them stepped outside and began their hike, Aiden trailing behind after he remembered to close the door.
