***OLI***
I stood there shocked. As far as I knew, everybody had good hearing in the family. So how is it that my sister is deaf? Sky sighed and began to look sad. I bent down to her level which hurt cause she was so short. Another thing, everyone in my family was relatively tall. How the fuck is my sister so short?
"What's up munchkin?" I asked. She began to write something down. Do you actually want to keep me? Or do you want to put me back into the orphanage? I sighed. Taking care of a kid was a lot to handle. Add in the fact she's deaf, and I have to adjust caring for her and in a special way cause she's deaf. But she's my baby sister, so I can't give up on her.
"You're my baby sister. Of course I'm going to keep you," I told her. Her eyes sparkled like the stars. It made me happy knowing she's back in my life.
"Well, let's go back to the bus," Lee said and I nodded. Sky got her things and we walked to the car.
"I'm in a rock band and we're on tour, so you're going to be living in a tour bus for a while," I explained to her. She nodded. How long are you on tour? She asked.
"Ehhhh....a couple more months, I think" I said to her. She sighed and nodded. "Aye, how are you deaf? No one in the family is deaf," I asked her.
When I was young, I developed a disease. At first, it was minor and the doctors told me I'd be okay. But as I grew older, I began getting severe earaches and I couldn't hear as well as I once could. When I went back to the doctor, they came to the horrible realization that they misdiagnosed me. By the time they caught it, it was too late. There was nothing they could do about it. When I was 8, I became fully deaf. I cried when I woke up realizing I would never hear again. After I became deaf, I had to relearn how to live all over again. I struggle to this day living without hearing. After we read her story, we had arrived at the bus.
"Wow, that's tough," Lee said. She shrugged and got all of her things together. "Aye, how do we take care of you?" He asked.
Well, it's the same as taking care of a normal teenager. Give me internet, pizzas and Netflix, and I'll live. If you need me though, you have to come get me. I can't hear your cries for me so you have to get your lazy arse up. Also, you have to listen for my knocks. 2 knocks signals I'm coming into the room and 3 knocks signals I'm leaving the room. Oh, and we're going to sit down and you're going to learn how to sign. I'm not writing forever.
We read over the rules and took it all in. "Well, we are going to have to be a little more responsible, look out more often, and learn how to sign," I said. Lee agreed and Sky shrugged. She told us she could read lips but prefers to sign rather than guess what we're saying. We walked onto the bus to see that Jordan was the only one up. Typical.
"Aye mates. Where'd you go?" Jordan asked, not once looking up from digging in the fridge. Lee coughed slightly and Jordan looked up and saw Sky. "Shit mate! Did you bang a chick and finally knock one up?" Lee scoffed and I balled my fists.
"What the hell mate?! She's my bloody sister! Her name is Rosaline Olive, but she's called Sky," I introduced my sister. She waved shyly and gave me a look. I shrugged and Lee said, "Oh! She's deaf!"
Jordan whistled and looked shocked. He pulled me to the side. "I don't mean to be rude mate, but how are we gonna take care of a kid and manage the fact that she's deaf?" He asked. I sighed and rubbed my temples.
"She's my baby sister. I just got her back and I'm not giving up on her," I confidently said. He nodded and patted my back.
"Well, we've got one hell of a tour ahead of us," he said.
We went into the living pod and saw Lee showing Sky around. He was so caring and gentle with her and she was teaching him the signs for the living room objects. You could tell they were going to be best buds. She saw me and Jordan observing and waved us towards them. We walked over there and she taught us as well how to sign. I was happy that I had my baby sister back.
