The Nexus

"Ugh", (Y/n) groans as he slowly wakes and moves to a sitting position, placing a hand on his head as he felt like his head was throbbing in pain as he sat up trying to remember what happened, all he remembered was he killed that demon and walked down some stairs and after that it's all a blank. That was when he realized that something was off as he pulled his hand away he noticed that his hand had this odd blue aura around it and was glowing and a strange ring was resting on his finger, upon seeing this he was confused and questioned what was going on with his body, was this all a dream and where exactly was he? His questions were soon answered when a male voice spoke up, breaking him out of his thoughts. "Finally awake are we? For a moment there thought you'd never wake up.", it said surprising (Y/n) who jumped slightly before looking over and noticing a figure sitting on some stairs in front of this weird stone with symbols carved onto it. The male in question was wearing some pretty light armor and no helmet, he had pale skin and his hair was shaved as well as his beard, what was odd about him though was that he had the same aura around him though it was not as bright as (Y/n)'s. Cautious, (Y/n) stood up and approached the man who just watched him with this amused look on his face, "Who are you? Where are we?", (Y/n) asked as the man just chuckled and shook his head, "My name? It doesn't matter here we're all the same so names do not matter we'll all end up the same. As for where this is the Nexus.", he stated a sad tone in his voice one that (Y/n) could tell was that of a man who had given up, who had lost everything and was on the very urge of his losing his mind.

"The Nexus?", (Y/n) asked curiously before looking around this strange place and noticing that there were others here though some had that same aura as he did though they were different colors, as well as there being some who looked normal. This area was quite tall but seemed to not have any exits it was quite majestic, to say the least, but there was something that was off about this, how did he get here and how could leave? The crestfallen man just laughed at his confusion before speaking up, confusing (Y/n) even more, "I can see that you're confused, probably wondering how did I get here and how can I leave? Am I correct?", he asked surprising (Y/n) as he was surprised that he figured out his thoughts, the man just chuckled, "Judging by your actions I can say that I'm right, as to how you got here well to put it simply you died.", he stated as (Y/n) was stunned starring at the man in disbelief.

"I died? You expect me to believe that especially when we're standing here and having this conversation?", (Y/n) asked in disbelief crossing his arms as the man just laughed at his reaction, "Don't believe me how do you explain your body? That glow is not normal is it not?", he pointed out as it did make sense and it was pretty odd but that was that outlandish compared to death. What happened next surprised (Y/n) as the man sighed before pulling out his blade, giving (Y/n) little to no time to react and the figure's sword was plunged into his throat killing him in an instant.

"What?!", (Y/n) yelled out as he sat up in shock and confusion before realizing he was in the same spot as he woke up earlier. "W-what?", he asked in confusion and disbelief as he heard a sigh looking over to see the crestfallen warrior who was sheathing his blade, and in front of him was this bloodstain an odd small white light in front of him. "Believe me now?", he asked sitting down as (Y/n) stands up rubbing his neck, that couldn't be real right that was all just a dream right, there's no way he died but it felt all too real he felt the pain from the blade in his neck and the man was still there doubt started to form in his mind as the warrior just chuckles. "Now yo believe me? You died and when you did this place the Nexus has trapped your soul as it did many others before us, we can not leave this place that ring on your finger binds you to this place and you can't remove it either.", he states as (Y/n) looks down at his hand and attempts to remove the ring but finds that it wouldn't budge his heart started pounding in his chest as he started to believe what the man was saying. "There has to be a way to escap-", "Trust there isn't we've tried nothing works we are bound to this place...", he sighs as (Y/n) looks down before he continues, "So why did you come here? Was it for the Demon Souls? Or to save this land, and be remembered as a hero?", he asked as (Y/n) looked at him as he chuckles before speaking up again, "This is a way to end this, though many have tried and most have given up to regain our humanity one must slay and absorb the soul of a demon. Though that would not matter as we would still to this place, unable to escape until the fog is removed and the demons are slayed.", he continues as (Y/n) looks down in thought, "I understand the hesitation, there is no escape for us we are bound and stuck for all eternity, I tried to tell that to all the others before you but none will listen, not even that girl she simply called me a coward and ventured off into the fray. What a poor fool she is.", he stated sadly while shaking his head.
