something's missing

Marceline Diaz-Butterfly age: 13

Marceline Diaz-Butterfly was many things brave, smart, beautiful, clumsy, dense but confident was not one of them. In 2 weeks it will be her 14th birthday and she will inherit the butterfly wand from her mother and she was stressing out.

Her mother suggested going to earth till then to calm her nerves and so for the past week she's been staying at her grandparents house in her father's old room (not that she knew it was his).

Right now she was deciding on what to wear for the day, she decided on pink and blue leggings with red sneakers, denim short shorts and a light green t shirt with a heart on it. Yet as she looked at her reflection in the mirror reflecting her mother's eyes, she felt as if something was missing.

"Grrr what's missing here" she marched to her wardrobe and looked through the small amount of clothes she brought with her "no, no, no" she sighed frustrated.

She started to rumage the top of the wardrobe to see what she could find till she felt mirror phone ring, she checked and her eyes went wide "CRAP IM LATE!!!!" In her mad dash out the room she didn't notice the box she knocked from the top shelf.

"Bye abuela, bye abuelo she gave both of them a kiss on the cheek and bolted out the door and ran straight to Britta's tacos.

After apologising to her best friend Lucy lucitor, who in her usual way brushed it off they enjoyed their tacos while discussing what to do today, well Lucy was, marci's mind was still stuck in the events of this morning.
"Earth to marci come in" Lucy said while snapping her fingers. "huh what I was listening"

"ok then you agree that the spark would kill the mechaguy?" Marceline's eyes widened and stood up with her hands on the table "no way! the spark has a strict no killing rule ever since he killed his close friend when he wrongly accused him of-" she stopped mid sentence noticing her friends raised eyebrow and smirk, she then slowly sat back down in her seat.

"That's not what we were talking about were we" she shook her head "not in the slightest no" marci's face turned red and buried her face in her arms. she knew Lucy wasn't into comics as much as she was and still fell into her trap. Lucy sighed and put her taco down "ok what's the problem" "you'll think it's stupid" Lucy nodded "possibly but IL still listen"

Marci lifted her head up and gestures to her outfit "do you think something's missing?" Lucy squinted her eyes and scanned her "I guess so yea but what's the problem?" Marci sighed "the problem is I just can't think of what it is I went through my wardrobe at home and nothing worked" she then grabbed her hair and started pulling it "it's so frustrating!!!" Lucy took a sip from a drink "you've never cared about fashion before and neither have I just look at me"

She then gestured to her own attire a green skirt with white socks and blue shoes paired with a black t shirt with a heavy metal band on it covered by a small denim jacket, on her head rested a red beinie with her horns just poking out underneath.

Marci shook her head "this is different it feels like there's something I need but can't place it, it's like I'm incomplete without it" she rested her head into her folded arms again and mumbles "and I get enough of that feeling already" after a brief moment of silence Lucy finished her taco and stood up "hurry up and finish your taco" marceline looked at her questioningly "Wer going shopping to find what your missing" marceline smiled and ate her taco till something popped into her head "mechanis"

Lucy looked at her confused "his name is mechanis not mecha guy" she finished. Lucy shook her head and smiled "what ever nerd"

After they finished their lunch marceline and Lucy made their way to a local store called fits all. Marci just kept browsing but nothing clicked for her which slightly annoyed her companion "you know you could try them on" Marci still wasn't sure "I just..." Marci suddenly felt two pairs of hands grab her shoulders and sat her down on the nearest seat "wait here" Lucy ordered and walked off.
