Time was kind to the young hero for once as he already found himself at the end of his day, surrounded by stacks of reports that still needed to be read or filed. Another part of his hero career he wasn't fond of. With a sigh he left his desk and hurried to the support floor for his new costume. Anxiety had started to creep in as the clock ticked on, but he did his best to push it down and focus on his goal for the night.
Get Bakugo to open up to him.
Hatsume had outdone herself as always and with a few last warnings, more like threats, to treat her babies nicely Shoto was back in the elevator on his way to the ground floor. A stop on the third floor let in a few others who nodded in acknowledgment to the young hero, but he stayed silent while his mind worked through possible scenarios and strategies for the night.
The further into his hero career he got, the more he struggled to turn off the analytical part of his mind. It seemed that everywhere he looked he saw possible escape routes, the best way to subdue a villain with minimal property damage, or civilians who could be caught in the crossfire. It had saved him more than a few times when he found himself off duty and in the middle of a surprise attack. It was unlucky for the villains. But it was also unfortunate for the hero who longed for a bit of normalcy. Maybe if he was able to think with his heart instead of his head things would be different.
Or maybe it was better this way.
A gentle ding announced their arrival at the ground floor and the other passengers moved aside to let him off. As much as he hated the special treatment he received as the son of the number one hero, and their boss, he had given up on trying to get them to see him as their equal. It still made him uncomfortable, but he was better at hiding it now.
Heading towards the friendly smile of the tape hero, and his ride, waiting for him by the front doors he nearly missed the quick steps of a fanatical secretary coming to cut him off. She stopped in front of him, blond curls swaying over her shoulders with the flick of her head and flashed what he was sure she thought was a winning smile up at the hero.
His irritation spiked and his fist clenched hidden in his pocket. He really didn't have time for another one of her attempts tonight.
He didn't miss the low-cut Pro Hero Shoto top she not so subtly displayed under her blazer. The hero still didn't remember approving that design with marketing but could only guess it happened after stumbling home to finish overdue work on a night Hawks had convinced him to go out for "a few" drinks. He didn't miss the look in her eyes either.
"Hey there Shoto"
"Oh, hello." Doing his best to keep his voice aloof instead of irritated he sent a pleading look at Sero who just covered his mouth to suppress a giggle. He fought against the urge to roll his eyes knowing no one was going to help him out of this mess. Most of the other heroes found her attempts to seduce him entertaining. Some had even placed bets on how long it would take for him to give in.
If they only knew.
"Do you need something?" He asked quietly while his mind screamed for her to take the hint.
His stomach tossed when she took a step closer, twirling a blond curl around her finger and looking up at him with big, brown doe eyes. His skin prickled with discomfort when she subtly arched her back to push her chest closer. Leaving only inches between the two.
"Well..." she began, her soft tone on the verge of dipping from playful to seductive "I was hoping that today would be the day you finally said yes. I know you aren't on patrol tonight."
With the control over his temper slowly unraveling he could feel the heat spreading from his left side. This woman just would not quit, and it was grating on already short nerves. He needed to get a grip on his anger before his civilian clothes ended up a pile of ashes on the floor, giving her more to gawk at. With a deep breath in he stepped back, letting out a steamy exhale as he cooled himself off.
