"I promise to be a good partner Your Majesty, just please give me a chance." "Like I previously stated, I'm not looking for a partner, but a wife." "Y-yes that's what I meant-" "Miss Deleon, please understand that I'm not interested in you, besides, it is not a secret that King Francis is desperate to acquire more allies." The woman took a step back, the man standing up from his throne. "I'm very aware that your family is planning on starting a war between the Northern and Western kingdoms, including my own." He continued to speak. "I have the strongest army of all land, and your father knowing that, would love to have me on his side, which will never happen. So, do yourself a favor my dear, and go back to your excuse of a kingdom." His words echoing through the room. The girl, trembling, bowed to the man standing infront of her, then making her way to the exit of the palace. The said man sat down on the throne, holding his forehead with his right hand. An older man approaches him, holding some papers. "Your Royal Highness." he bowed. "I presume that was the last one from the list?" the young prince inquired. "Yes sir." The older one said as the young male got up, and walked towards to the man before him. "Your father is displeased to hear you haven't choose someone to be your bride. I suggest-" "Relax Edward, there's plenty of princesses to reach out to me." the prince interrupted the man. "Y-Yes, but you see Prince Gordon, His Majesty chose those young ladies because according to his word they were most suitable for the position." Edward explained. "That's the problem, I want someone that I can connect to. I don't want some shady princess on my side just because she looks good by my side." the prince explained, walking along the halls of the palace alongside Edward. "I wish that he would allow me to do my own search, to find someone who I can emotionally connect with." "I understand. But as you know, there's rumors of a war breaking out soon, and His Majesty is trying to do the best he can to maintain peace in his kingdom. Our people have heard those said rumors and are getting nervous and panicking, having a distraction to ease everyone's minds would be an amazing plan." Edward continued. "See? Even you know it's just for entertainment. He just wants me to shove a ring on a random female just to entertain some villagers." Both went up the staircase to the bedrooms hall. "Just tell him to give me more time." the prince added, Edward nodded. "I'll report to His Majesty your opinion." the older man bowed once again and went away. The young male slowly walked through the halls, observing the portraits of kings and queens that once had reigned the kingdom that one day will become his. He stumbled on his early mother's portrait. Her blue eyes staring forward, her expression transmitting the energy of a powerful young woman.

...

"Gordon? Where did you hide this time?" a sweet, tender voice called for him. A young woman walking around the palace, looking for someone. "Are under the table?" she asked, peeking under the table. A young boy observed the woman behind the curtains, giggling to himself. "Hmm, oh! I know where you are!" she exclaimed, making her way to the giant closet, opening the doors. "Oh no, he's not here." she said, a bit of sadness in her tone. Young Gordon giggled once again. "Oh? What's that noise I heard?" she questioned. The boy covered his mouth. The woman slowly made her way out of the room. The young boy hearing to door closing, got out of his hiding spot and proceeded to follow his mother, slowly walking behind her, trying to not make any sound. "Boo!" the woman suddenly turned around, the child shouted and starting laughing, running the opposite direction from his mother who was currently chasing him. "You can't run from me you little devil!" she stated. They ran outside to the gardens. Little Gordon had grown tired of running, so he slowed down, taking a few breaths. He looked around, his mother not to be seen. When he least suspected, he was being pulled up from the green grass. His mother had picked him up. "Found you!" she cheered. Little Gordon laughed, hugging his mother tightly, while the woman pat his back. She sat on the grass, with little Gordon on her lap, his head resting on her right shoulder. He yawned, his eyes growing tired, eventually he ended up falling asleep. The woman kissed his forehead. "No matter what happens, I'll always love you, my little devil."

...

"Uhm, Sir?" Gordon blinked away from the painting, waking up from his little dream noticing a female on his right side. He analyzed the woman: Blonde hair, tied up in a loose braid that appeared over her left shoulder. Her pale skin being cover by a grey dress. Her light blue eyes looking at him, her facial expression transmitting concern. "Your Royal Highness, are you alright?" she asked. Gordon cleared his throat. "I am well, why? Is it of your interest to know about the Royal Prince's well-being?" he asked, putting his hands behind his back, getting closer to the female, who adjusted her posture. "N-No Sir! It's that you've been staring at Queen Marianne's portrait for some time now." she answered. "And?" he added, lowering his back to get on her eye level, the young lady lowered her head, flustered. "Hey come on, eye contact." He stated, the blonde looking up at him. Her blue eyes looking at his light grey ones. "I was w-worried that Your Royal Highness were feeling upset." she replied. Gordon backed up, giving some space to the girl. "I see...What is your name?" he inquired, curious. "Delilah Laurier, Your Royal Highness." she bowed. "Laurier? As in Raymond Laurier, Duke of Wonbourne?" "Yes, I'm the Duke's second daughter." "Oh Duchess Adeline had a second child? I wasn't aware of that." Delilah shook her head sideways. "I'm not a fruit of my father's first marriage. I'm Lucienne's first daughter. His second marriage." Both had started to walk around the corridors of the palace in a slow pace. "It makes sense, I'm shocked that they never announced your...existence?" "According to what my father told me, I was born early when my father was still married to Duchess Adeline, so they had to keep me hidden from the world, until eventually the divorce came in and we moved in, but even then they decided to not tell the world about me." Delilah kept on talking. "The people became aware of my existence when my mother was expecting of my younger brother." "Jasper or Ezra?" Gordon asked, paying close attention to the conversation. "Ezra, he's five years older than Jasper. Meanwhile there's an age gap of twelve years between me and Ezra." The young lady acknowledged. ."How old are you if I may ask?" Gordon asked. "I'm 22." "Ah so two years younger than me I see" The young man said. Delilah then returned to the previous subject. "It was pretty clear that I took care of him for a while." she concluded. Gordon kept on looking at Delilah, admiring her beauty. "So I presume you are a good nanny?" he asks. "I guess I am." she chuckled, looking at the young man before her "I wish to have some children of my own one day. To give them all of my love, teach them everything, care for them." Delilah explained. "There are so many royal ladies that give their children to the hand of nannies, not spending at least five minutes with them. That's depressing, don't you agree?" "I do." Gordon answers. "I never had that problem with my mother. She was the sweetest and most caring being on this world." he continued, Delilah paying attention. "I remember playing hide-and-seek with her around the palace, and whenever I got hurt, even if it was some small scratch on my knee she would be there to care for me." "Do you miss her?" Delilah questioned in a soft tone, looking at Gordon who looked back at her, but then he lowered his gaze to his feet. "I do...quite a lot." he murmured. Delilah held his right hand, caressing it with her right hand. "I'm sure she is a better place, observing and protecting you." she assured, a soft smile on her lips. Gordon smiled softly. "I appreciate it Delilah. Thank you." "Well of course, Your Royal Highness." she assured. Both were located in a small room, two tall windows with a view of the front gates, a small round table and two comfortable chairs, with mint colored walls, a magnificent chandelier above them.

Both kept talking about each other's childhoods, until they were interrupted by a butler. "Lady Delilah, your father as requested your presence at the Wonbourne Palace." he informed. Gordon and Delilah got up from the chairs. "It was delightful meeting you. Your Royal Highness." she acknowledged. "As it was wonderful to meet you Delilah, and please call me Gordon." the prince stated. The girl bowed, making her way to the exit, accompanied by the butler. The prince got closer to one of the windows to notice a black car waiting in front of the gates. He noticed a female outside, walking towards the car. She looked behind, noticing the prince watching her, she waved a goodbye, the prince doing the same. The young lady got in the car, a butler closing the door behind her. The car slowly made its way towards the gates. The prince sat back down on the chair, his gaze not leaving the view outside the window. On his mind there was only one matter. "Delilah Laurier." he mumbled to himself. "Sir, I've been looking for you! His Majesty requests your presence in is office." Edward barged in, interrupting the prince's thoughts. "I'll be there Edward." He says. Edward bowed and walked away. The prince took a deep breath.

"Here we go again..."
