CHAPTER THIRTY SIX !
☆
ISSY HAD SPENT HER time with carol, tyreese, judith, lizzie, and mika. it hadn't been the worst time ever, until lizzie went literally crazy and killed mika, and almost judith. carol had to kill lizzie after that, she was a danger to not only herself, but everyone around her. issy always knew that there was something seriously wrong with lizzie, she knew it.
it was easy to miss mental illnesses when the entire world was hanging on by a tiny thread, but lizzie clearly had one that was going untreated. she was just a danger to be around. it was sad that she had to die. issy was more sad about mika, she had grown close to her in the time they spent together.
meanwhile, daryl, rick, carl and michonne were still on their way to terminus - all convinced that judith was dead after finding her bloody car seat. they just hoped that issy would be alive, no proof that she was or wasn't. so they just held onto the small string of hope they had.
they knew that she could handle herself. issy at the start was a completely different person to issy at the possible end. she was strong, protective. she was everything that a person needed to stay alive in that world. completely unafraid.
the four of them came across another terminus sign that had fell off the stick, leaves covering it. rick kicked the leaves off with his feet.
"we're gettin' close. we'll be there by sundown." daryl said.
"now we head through the woods. we don't know who they are." rick said, clinging to the strap of his back pack.
"all right." daryl responded, continuing his walk, heading into the woods, everyone following behind him.
they approached a fence not far from the train tracks, and that's when they saw it. a large building, looking like a building site from the outside, but who knew what the inside held. in black paint read T•E•R•M•I•N•U•S. they'd hit their destination.
"we all spread out. watch for a while, see what we see and get ready. we all stay close." rick said.
daryl nodded, grabbing his crossbow and walking off to the side. carl had gone with machine after declining rick's offer to go with him. daryl went alone, like usual.
"why didn't you go with your dad?" michonne asked. carl didn't reply, so she continued. "when i told you about andre, you never asked how he died."
"i knew why." carl replied.
"yeah, but the how is important. we went to a refugee camp. andre and my boyfriend mike, that was andre's father, and our friend terry. at the camp, it just got worse and worse. people were leaving, people giving up. but i didn't. i was coming back from a run, i saw the fences were down. i heard the moans. it was over. and mike and terry, they were high when it happened. they were bit. could have stopped it. could have killed them. but i let them turn. i made it so they couldn't bite, couldn't scratch, i tied chains around their necks. it was insane. it was sick. it felt like what i deserved, dragging them around so i would always know. i found out that they kept me safe. they hid me. the walkers didn't see me anymore. i was just another monster. and i was. me. i was gone for a longgg time. but then andrea brought me back. your dad brought me back. you did."
