Ahh... jobs.

At my high school, Trost has high expectations with workers and would have their A game on. Everyone can expect the best from Trost. From Culinary Arts to Broadway.

And then there's me.

I got a few talents of my own, but I still don't think I'm as capable enough to fulfil my work habits. Maybe I can? I don't know. Only way to find out... is to sign up for a summer job. I want the money. I don't need it. My parents can buy me stuff but I'd rather have my own money to spend on rather than them buying me everything I want still. Sure my mom would put some money into my savings account, but still. I want to have more money or extra money just to buy games or to buy other stuff. Now since I'm a senior, I've decided to take a part of a summer job.

I look at a sheet on the main hallway's bulletin board filled with a list of job openings. One out of ten others. Not in alphabetical order. Just a shizzload of job openings. Front and back. Front and back. Front and back. Front and back.

Ahh... jobs.

I don't need a summer job, do I? Yeah, no. This is just voluntary work. Well, for me. I can just not have a summer job, but this little thing in your mind called a conscience is telling me to do it. Conscience a.k.a a friend. Stupid peer pressure. If my friends can do it, so can I.

Ha. Ha. So not true. I'm screwed.

Not really.

But I need this.

Give me something. Anything.

So many job openings, some little time.

I turn to my right to meet my friend Armin's sparkling eyes. I can tell that he's going to take on something good---

"I'm going to be the assistant volleyball coach!"

I choke on air.

Excuse me, what?

"Huh?"

"You heard me. I'm going to try out to be coach." His blue eyes smile along with his pearly whites as he adjusts a black strap of his grey backpack.

Armin, please.

"Seriously, Armin? Can you even play--" I flex my jaw and press my lips together as I dart my eyes away, not wanting to continue my sentence.

Yeah, I played volleyball with him back in middle school and even just last two years of sophomore and junior year. He couldn't pass nor set and hell to the no could he serve. He's terrible. Yes. Present tense. He was terrible and I still think he is. Owch. Oops. Reality. It's a bitch.

"I've been practicing."

Simply said like a blank sheet of paper.

"That's good to know," I simply reply as I look back to the wall of damn summer job papers. Front and back, guys. Front. And back.

38.) Ackerman Estate Internship- 27781 Gatesway Ave. 91305

This is pretty local, too... but you don't get paid for internship.

"Either I help coach for volleyball or I'll sign up for the internship at either the Ackerman Estate or the Garrison Estate. Both are really good." Armin cups his chin with his thumb and finger, thinking deeply about his choices and what he's going to pick as his summer job.

"In my opinion, I wouldn't go to the volleyball thing. Might as well be a cashier, you know? And for the internship.. you don't get paid, so what's the point in even trying?"

"It's going to look really good for your college though. Being an intern at a great business industry? Yes!"

"Uh, no."

"How about it?"

"How about no?"

"Eren--"

"No."

"Ugh, fine. You can be in basically any of these. You can do sports, cook, dance, play multiple instruments, clean--" he snickers, "okay, scratch the cleaning part."

Gee thanks, Armin.

"Thanks, Armin. I am totally motivated now."

"I sense sarcasm."

"I sense sass."

We both look back to the wall and skim through the rest of the lists, joking about our lack of skills in certain areas and what our strengths could be.

Internships are totally scratched out, but they're my last resort for now. Maybe I can consider it? Oh, obviously. Wait. No. I'd rather just stay at home to play video games or catch up on anime. Or just sleep in most of my summer? I can join the swimming team I usually go to at Cleveland.

Which reminds me...

I have swimming practice, water polo practice, and junior lifeguarding practice over the summer. I even have a hip-hop and contemporary class this summer, too. And I was planning on learning Japanese over the summer at a college--well an online class maybe.

Aren't I busy as ever?

I might have to cancel all of that though. I guess I can let it go for just one summer. Depends on my working times. If it's at night or something, then most likely I have a chance to do everything in the beginning of my days. I will NOT sign up for baby-sitting. The kids are just not good with me.

Holy shit. Will I have any rest time throughout my summer? I hope so. It's called summer vacation for a reason. The vacation part means to have fun not be busy and do a shit load of work.

I take a deep breath in and out of my mouth softly as I take one last glance of a sign-up form to be a coach. As soon as the bell rings, I take a sign-up sheet for volleyball and swimming. For sure I'm going to get the swimming part. I've been swimming competitively since I was seven years old. I got this. I know the roots. I know the basics. I got this.

If he can do it, then I can do it.
If I can do it, then he can do it.

I just got to get this down, this conscience of mine, and I'll be good to go.

Ikuzo!!!!
