It only took half an hour for everyone to be up and ready for the sudden mission. It would've only taken fifteen minutes, if it weren't for Chad complaining about how little sleep he got.
Rachel debriefed the plan once more, took call of all the important tools needed for the mission, and gave Hoagie permission to set off. Everyone sat down in their seats and buckled in.
At this point, he had memorized where he needed to go. They had tried to raid his base so many times that he knew where to fly, from just about every point where they usually "parked" the ship. Most were just spots around earth, or around other planets capable of sustaining life, with the exception of the rare occasions that they'd decide to stay on a planet for the night.
The journey wasn't all that long for them. Kids Next Door technology had made space journey seem like a quick ride to the store. As much as Hoagie wanted to take this opportunity up in space to explore some farther away planets capable of sustaining life, he couldn't. They were up there for only one thing; to bring Nigel back to his senses. Considering it had been four whole months of trying to get him to realize what he's doing is wrong... That would take ages.
Rachel began going over the plan once more, as she usually did. Just like any operative that had an important role in one way or another, she was paranoid. They already knew the plan, and half weren't even listening to her repeating it. Hoagie was busy flying, Abby was stuck in her own world, and Chad... Well, no one knows. He keeps to himself most of the time, anyways.Dust stirred up on the ground as the aircraft landed on the very small moon of an uninhabitable planet. As it settled, the menacing flashing of the red lights surrounding his base gave the group chills. They were coded similarly to the fire alarms all around schools on earth, except they didn't serve any genuine purpose. Nigel only coded them to flash to strike fear into anyone who wanted to test his strength, and send a very specific operative into fight or flight mode. Not that he was alive anymore to be put in such a state, but Nigel didn't care.
Rachel strapped a bag to her waist and handed Hoagie a few needles in a small pouch, just in case he lost a needle or two. She handed Chad a carefully constructed bomb, which looked more like a button then an explosive. The four stepped back as he rigged the explosive to the front door of the base, which had probably been repaired or switched out more than twenty times at that point. The bomb flashed for a few seconds as he ran back against the outer walls of the ship, and dust once again flew against their faces. They once again waited for the dust to settle, and they stormed in with guns loaded.
The blank walls of the base went on for what seemed like miles, which were all lined with the same flashing lights the outside was lined with. Kuki and Chad went off to the right, Rachel and Abby went off to the left, and Hoagie went straight ahead. They all had communicators to let the others know if anything had gone wrong, but they didn't expect to use them. They went off in all different directions just to throw him off, as they were only there for the blood of Nigel's new weapon.
Hoagie grasped the pouch tightly with one hand while holding a handgun with the other. Of course, it wasn't armed with real bullets. Instead, they were old gumballs from the machines of a convenience store that has been out of business for decades.Sweat dripped down his face as he walked down the empty halls. "Oh, this is so stupid..." He thought. "If I die, I want Rachel to get 'his death was my fault' tattooed on her forehead."
He entered through an air-tight room and took off his helmet. He wasn't met with much, just the loud buzzing of the florescent lights above him. Somehow, that only made things feel more ominous for him.
The metal under him made clanking noises as he walked towards another door. The sound wasn't loud, but the near silence of the room made it feel louder than it was. Before he could reach the door, it made a loud hissing sound, before beginning to open. The door opening on it's own wasn't the greatest sign."Well, well. Nice to see you, big guy!" Nigel waved at him as the door finished opening.
"I'm not here for you. Where's your mutt?"
