"My Prince!" a voice came about many feet from me. More voices came out from around below and I sighed as I patiently sat atop of the highest roof of the castle.
A rather old but wise building; very well taken care of. An Ancient must be taking care of this tower.
My gaze unwavered from the almost blinding sight above me; a sky of many violets and the Sun, clouding around each other, colliding and making shades of many different colors. Dark maroon, pink, and violet clouds drifting into the mesh, only making the light shine even brighter.
I listened to the splash of waves and rivers flowing into one another as I watched the scenery play out as slow as nature herself.
"Prince Zephyr," a heavy-accented voice came from the walkway below. Someone has found me.
I had an idea of who this finder was, it almost made me disappointed for how it didn't surprise me.
Swiftly, the finder climbed up next to where I was sitting and I felt their eyes hover from me to the gorgeous sky. I peaked from the corner of my eye and, well enough, I was right. His well known scar occupying his left eye made it obvious. How gracious of him to be here looking for me.
"Did The King send you to invade my space, Mercenary Jiang?" I look over to him.
He kept his eyes up at the sky, "tis my job."
"Hm," I look down at the waves splashing, "where has Lady Alez gone?"
While standing silent, he states, "searchin for you."
Only then did I hear the Misses yelling my name in the crowd down below, her bright red hair shining. I nodded. She's staging an act to hide me. She must've hinted to Jiang of my hiding place.
She has always been the one who knows where I am when I hide but I always change my hiding spots to give her a run.
She likes to think of it as a game and I help her with her chores afterwards, I always have as a child.
I never did like watching her being pushed around like a new-born doe in the castle, she's almost the only family I have. The only one I truthfully deem as family.
Some time had passed before the Mercenary spoke up.
"May I ask why you are hiding?""You may not," I answered.
"Is it because of ya Father?"
Taken aback, I look at him expecting another look of false sympathy but he never glanced away from the sky.
No one around me has had the backbone to blatantly ask if my Father is the problem. They have always been taught that it was disrespectful or almost illegal.
Yet I haven't had the care for that.Especially not at this moment.
"...The King. But yes," I corrected him.
"Ah, truthfully sorry...," he said. I nodded in courtesy.
The wind blew through my training robes, making the loose fabric swirl. My chest armor felt suffocating on my pectorals and waist but my pants were open enough to let the wind blow at my skin. The tight tie around my waist to hold up my pants were loosened, by me, to breathe before I have another five-hour training day in the Vortex. I'm dreading the thought of repeating it all again. The holograms never seem to be getting easier.
At least I'll have a small moment with the sky. But can't this man go away?"Being honest to myself, I didn't expect you to answer," Mercenary Jiang admitted, making me look over to him.
I wasn't supposed to, nor was there a purpose to, but it's written all over my face.
"What is there to lie about?" I asked calmly.
"Th-... I do not know," he started then admitted. "It seemed personal."
I stared at him. Silence.
I looked away back to the sunset, then to the crowd searching for me.
"Is there anythin ya need, my Prince?" He asked. "There must be something ya want if ya climbed all the way up 'ere without a word to any person."
"No," I blankly stated, "I am not in need of any service."
"Of course, then why did ya feel the need to get away?" He asked. I watched as Lady Alez asks an Ancient and a mythical to where "the Prince" is.
She looked more than concerned; She looked scared. My brows furrowed; Is she really acting..?
"That is my business, Mercenary," I said bluntly, not looking away from my red-headed family member, "you are payed only to protect me until this whole ordeal resolves itself. That is your job. Nothing is personal when it comes to your duties nor will it become personal. Let me be in peace. Or at least be silent enough for me to not notice."
In a way, I had told him what I wanted.
I looked at him just as his dull purple eyes shown a glint of a vibrant purple just for a split millisecond.
It faintly reminded me of the many violets in the sky.
"As you wish, my Prince," he bowed down in courtesy before he takes his leave.
I watched him jump down onto the quartz concrete almost perfectly and start jogging towards Lady Alez. I sighed.
I tried returning to the sweet sound of the waves and the calming painted sky but, knowing Ms. Alez, she was going to lecture me into the ground or, rather, drag me to the ground.
I groaned, got up, and I concentrated on every single stream of running blood through my veins and sent the heat sensation towards my heart. I breathed in and out, focusing on the feeling pulling my body up and slowly gliding me down to the ground.
One-third of the way to the ground, I let go of the heat too soon and I dropped to the ground, pushing myself into a roll in order to not hurt my legs.
I got up swiftly, having done this way too many times to count.
I start walking towards the annoying Mercenary and Ms. Alez until a high-class versipellis, middle aged, grabbed onto my arm tugging me towards a unit nearby.
I stood ironed in my place, studying the woman's unfamiliar hand pulling at my arm. "My Prince!!!"
I look over behind me and I see she is in a full terror. Behind her are a few citizens beckoning her to come back but her full attention was solely on me. "Please, good sir- we need help. Please! Please..!!"
"Zephyr- please, help m-!"
Familiarity washed over me and anxiety rested in the pit of my stomach. My heart pumped and I felt my veins boiling. Everything turned a dark, fiery purple.
No no no.
Please- not again.
Everything turned black and my mind fell limp, but in the last moments I could still hear her voice. Screaming.
