The Yankees chose to bring Anthony Volpe up to begin the 2023 season and insert him into the lineup - a rare action for most teams. Volpe is 21 years old and spent only a brief time playing Triple-A ball. The shortstop, who grew up in and near New York as a fan of the team, brings with him much expectation.
This blog will keep track of his progress through a rookie season as a player and as part of a team looking, finally, to return to World Series greatness. Anticipate more of a focus on offense, for that's what we most care about and it's easier to track.
