The moment Drite was beheaded all the light fell from the sky, leaving nothing but Erresira's soft glow. Most people of Epecien were afraid and rushed the kingdoms begging for answers but none were given for many days. This was all the time it took for one very dark minded man to take his opportunity, Kyran Emol Zolkra. His thoughts were so beyond twisted and now with the chaos he took control.
With a bare Castle in the middle of the Zezu mountains, he slipped past the little guards and took the throne with a small army of Yaku, Dalaki and Obsidani; They pillaged and burned cities, murdering anyone in their paths till other rulers begged for mercy and gifted Kyran their thrones. Most of these rulers, even though they surrendered were slaughtered and hung in the city streets as a message to the people. The Makers were absent from Epecien as they were called to Homeworld do discuss the passing of Drite and the next steps they needed to make.
This carnage ripped across the Four kingdoms within a year and became known as the Black War, those who sided with Kyran were gifted with their lives and those who refused were not so fortunate; this made many people hide and stay on the run. Kyran bestowed himself with the title of Dark King and all knew the title as his army ravaged the world, growing larger with each day. Only one kingdom was larger than his and he did his best to overpower them but failed each time.
Fallen knew the feeling that held in the air like soot, she knew the hate and anger all too well and refused to allow it to rip her people away again. Long ago she and her people built massive walls around her kingdom;she hid these walls in mountains and a massive gate was hidden in the trees surrounding the only entry point of the kingdom. Fallen kept her gate open till the very last moment and took in all refugees that ran to her for protection. Though she was a peaceful being and refused to fight back head on, she taught her people well and they posted around the inner walls, striking any enemy down before they could process what happened. The people who fled to her land cast out those who were the same species or even closely related to Kyran and his army, Fallen sectioned off a part of the land and named it The Rike District, this is where they resided; away from those who were traumatized and afraid but remaining within her protection.
Kyran found one of his soldiers had turned, began helping the others by making weapons for them to fight back with, without hesitation he ordered the slaughter of the man and his family; but they fought back, this allowed his eldest daughter to escape. Shiruki Valstori Bloodriver had just celebrated her 20th birthday a week before she watched the Dark soldiers slaughter her parents and younger brother. Her parents taught her many things. Her mother ensured she could live on her own in nature if ever necessary; on the other hand her father made her strong and showed her the ways of a sword and this solidified her roots.
Shiruki had far to go but this did little to stop her. Early in her travels she met a man by the name of Varen; he remained by her side and helped her achieve her goal of recruiting people for her cause. Within months Shiruki gathered hundreds but it still was not enough to fight; people of a town they passed through told them of the Shevu Kingdom, tucked between mountains and the only entry being a single gate. This became her next destination; making a 5 month journey on foot while keeping to the woods with no torchlight. Shiruki was greeted at the gates by drawn bows and shifting eyes. She was a Rakasha followed by a large group of people, they thought she was Kyrans soldiers but they dropped their weapons when she asked to speak to their ruler. A Paladin stepped forward with her hand on the hilt of her sword, ready to pull at a moments notice, her words left her lips swiftly as she agreed to take Shiruki to Fallen but her people were to remain outside the gate.
Shiruki dropped her head in respect to Fallen and waited to be spoken to; Fallen agreed to speak in private with the newcomer, though unable to see, she could feel the rage and purity radiating from the woman. She told Fallen of her past, her parents and their deaths; She spoke of the man who has been helping her, that he stayed to guide the larger group and keep them safe and this was when Fallen knew. The way Shiruki spoke and all of her actions told her all she needed to know, Fallen granted her access to her arsenal, horses and people. They slept and the next day the people were addressed, they were given the option as Fallen never took their freedom from them and always respected that they'd make their own decisions. That night little over half of her kingdom as well as all those from the Fallen district followed Shiruki out of the gate and into the war.
Before Shiruki departed, Fallen told her of the unborn child she was taking into battle with her. Fallen donned Shiruki with earrings blessed with a protection ward as well as her strongest and most able soldier, Ophilia Opal. In that moment Ophilia was released from her duties as a Kukudeht Paladin and became Shirukis right hand; she painted over the pale green on her armor with a bright red to match Shiruki and swore her life to her.
Ophilia was extremely loyal to Shiruki and proved her mastered sword skills during their fights leading to the dark castle. Once Shiruki challenged Kyran, Ophilia kept his soldiers from intervening in the fight alongside Varen. Once Varen stepped to aid his soldiers he was shot with an arrow in the back but continued to fight till he took his last breath and collapsed in front of Ophilia. Not much longer Shiruki's sword ripped through Kyrans chest and his scream bellowed over the kingdom, his soldiers tossed their weapons and dropped to their knees, recognizing Shiruki as the new ruler.
The Dark War ended and the Crimson Era began; Shiruki started to slowly piece Epecien back together the best she could. Bonds between kingdoms became stronger than ever and Shiruki immediately Allied her Kingdom with Fallens, doing her best to rule honorably with some guidance from Fallen. Epecien remained lit by Erresira's glow for five more years, the makers had returned to Epecien throughout year two, Shiruki greeting each one personally to return their thrones to them and all else Kyran had stolen. Each of the makers respected Shiruki but kept to their vows of refusing to interfere with all but the planets well being.
The longest 5 years of Epecien ended when the agreement of Drite's resurrection concluded.
