"Come on!"
My best friend pulled on my arm, dragging me to the side of a lake, it having trees, bushes and flowers surrounding it.

My eyes widened, so did my smile.
"This is awesome, Nate!"
I said as we came to a stop.

Nate looked at me, his eyes shining in a bright blue.

He looked so happy.

I smiled back at him and we sat down by the river, holding our hands into the flow, to cool of from the hot summer weather.

A slight breeze came through the trees, blowing His brown hair.

He chuckled layed down in the grass.

I did the same.

We looked up at the blue sky and he turned to me with grin.

"This is nice." He said.

"It is." I replied.

...

BEEP BEEP BEEP-

I open my eyes, tears coming to them uncontrollably.

I just lay there for a while, trying to calm down.

After a bit I calm down.
I sit up and taking my dream diary.

'August 6th 2019: Tuesday
It was obvious that I would dream of him again.

I remember that moment perfectly.

It was summer 2012, I think.

We were 10 years old and he showed me a cool place in the woods.

From that moment on we went there multiple times every summer.

It was great every time.

I loved it and so did he.

I don't go there anymore...

It was our spot.
not mine.

I wouldn't go there anyway...

after what happened...'

I closed the book and wiped my eyes.

Well.
It's Tuesday.

I get up and put on my uniform again.

I brush my teeth and put my hair into a low ponytail again.

Once I'm ready, I leave.

Mom's not back yet.

Today we can choose school activities if I remember correctly.

I sit in class, my arms crossed on my desk, my chin leaning on top.

David and Charles enter and sit down in front of me.

"Good morning!"
Charles says, to which I hum in response.

"You good?"
Charles asks.

"mm-hm!" I nod.
"We get to choose activities today, I think."

"Oh yeah!"
David gets excited.

"What sport we joining this year?" Charles asks, looking at David.

"I dunno. Maybe Volleyball, or... Basketball?" He thinks.

David and Charles have known eachother way longer than Me or Carl. We came into the group later...
I don't really remember how we became friends.

They are very good at sports.
They always join a club like that.

I don't really like exercising at school.

Everything is competitive and they argue way too much.

The homeroom teacher comes in and had the sheets for clubs, as expected.

As soon as I get my sheet, I scan the options.

Sports:
-Basketball
-Swimming
-Volleyball
-Badminton
-Soccer
-Dancing

Creative:
-Painting
-Sculpturing
-Mosaic
-Theater
-Music

I look out the window and directly at Carl.
He looks up at me a few seconds later.

I take my block and draw a music note and a question mark.

I then hold it up to the window and Carl narrows his eyes to see what's on the block.

He then puts up his thumb and we nod at eachother.

I make a cross next to Music and write my name on the top.

'Sirus Haiverstone'

David and Charles wisper about what sport to pick and end up with Volleyball.

The teacher comes around and collects the sheets.

"The clubs or activities will start next week on monday, after the last lesson. I'll give you information on where to go sometime this week."
She sais, putting the sheets into a folder.

"I also have to tell you that If a club is full and you wanted to get in, You will have to choose between the other ones."
she rolls her eyes.
"That has never happened before and I'm sure it won't now, but I'm obligated to say that."

I spend the rest of homeroom chatting with David and Charles. Once It was over I went to leave but David called out to me, telling Charles he needs a second and to go on ahead.

"What is it?" I ask David.

"Are you sure you're okay?
You're more quiet than usual today..." He said, looking worried again.
"It's just that you were so... upset yesterday.
I didn't know how to deal with that, but I feel like I should remind you that I consider you one of my best friends and If something's wrong you can talk to me- like always."

It's unusual seing his face so serious for a long amount of time. He's almost always smiling.

"And I mean that!
If you need someone to talk to, you have my number.

Say the word and I'll come to you.

No matter the time or place, I'll be there..

I promise."

That's when the amount of unusual in this conversation trippled.

He comes closer and hugs me.

Not one of those short or side hugs, but a full, long hug.

It's tight, but not too tight and I hesitantly hug him back.

I wasn't embraced like this in years.
Mom sometimes hugs me, but her hugs are half assed and sometimes Carl hugs me, but those are short bro hugs...

Nate always gave the best hugs...

Hugs can be so powerful.
A single hug can bring out so many emotions. Negative or positive.

I'm fighting back tears, holding David's back lightly.

"I- I..."
I attempt to speak.

"It's okay. You don't have to say anything..."
he mumbles.
David slowly releases me.

"We have to get to class now." He says looking into my eyes.

"Will you be fine?
If not, the next lesson is very skipable, who needs history."

I chuckle quietly and shake my head.

"I'll be fine, don't worry."
I tell him.

"Okay. See ya!"
He says, beginning to leave.

"bye... and thank you."
I mumble.

He turns around and smiles at me.
"That's what friends are for."
with that he's gone and I walk off too.
