Puppet Boy • (Wally Darling x Reader)

• Chapter 1: The Neighborhood •

Y/n woke up and groaned as their head pounded against their skull. They looked around to see they were in an unfamiliar place. The walls were painted a bright red and the place reeked of apples. They stood up off the comfy bed they were on and began to walk towards the door. They pushed it open to see a cozy living room with a kitchen connected to it.

"Where am I?" They spoke whilst glancing around the place. Suddenly, a door to the side of the kitchen opened and a yellow person with blue beehive styled hair stepped in. "Oh, you're awake! How are you feeling, new neighbor?" Y/n raised an eyebrow at him.

Why does he seem so familiar? "Oh, uh, I'm feeling fine, thanks. Who are you, exactly?" The person chuckled before slipping their shoes off. "How silly of me, the name is Wally Darling, and you are?..." Y/n smiled and shook hands with him. "I'm Y/n L/n."

"It's great to meet you, Y/n! Now, I have something I must do, but feel free to leave whenever you like!" Y/n nodded and made their way over to the door Wally had entered through, but came to an abrupt stop. "Um, Wally? Sorry to bother, but where exactly am I?" Wally glanced over at them as he picked up a basket.

"Why, Home!" Y/n raised an eyebrow as Wally set the basket back down on the counter top and placed a cloth inside of it. "Home as in this is where I live?" He laughed as he shook their head. "No no no, this place's name is Home. They're very friendly!" Y/n stared at Wally with confusion, while he gestured towards the window.

Y/n approached slowly and looked out, only to be startled by an eye staring back at them. "I-is that suppose to be there?" Wally laughed before nodding waving at the eye. "So, you're house is like alive or something?" Wally nodded in reply once more, before walking back to the basket and picking it up. "If you aren't in a hurry to leave, would you care to join me in apple picking?"

"Sure, why not?" They said, causing Wally to beam at them. "Great, let's go!" Wally gently grabbed Y/n's hand and raced out of Home with them trailing behind him. "Oh! While we're at it, how about afterwards, I introduce you to the neighbors? It will have to be quick though, as I still have a few things left to do." Y/n nodded as the two arrived at the apple orchard.

Wally explained to Y/n the different types of apples and how some have different flavors as compared to others. Y/n smiled at him as a few voices were sounded from not far off. "Oh, lucky us! The neighbors are here to greet you!"

Y/n glanced back to see a yellow figure with a sun shaped head, a figure with blonde hair and pink skin, a figure with green skin and several legs, a blue dog, a rainbow bird, a figure with orange skin, and a gray figure with a frown fixed upon their face. (This was prolly painful to read 💀)

"Hello, Wally! Is this the new neighbor you were telling us about?" The sun person said while coming over to Y/n and examining them by lifting their arms up. "Indeed, Sally. Please don't touch our new neighbor, though! We wouldn't want to make them uncomfortable, would we?" Sally looked at Wally who had an unreadable look on their face, before stepping away and nodding.

Wally's smile returned as he introduced everyone one by one. Y/n learned the sun is Sally, the blonde is Julie, the caterpillar is Howdy, the dog is Barnaby, the bird is Poppy, the orange guy is Eddie, and the gray person is Frank. "It's nice to meet all of you!" Y/n exclaimed, earning a warm smile from the neighbors.

Everyone joined Wally and Y/n in picking apples, until they all had to leave and attend to other matters. "Well, gotta run neighbor. Stop by later today if you can! I'll be making apple pie." Y/n nodded and waved goodbye to Wally as he sped off, along with the others except for one.

Julie was left with Y/n and smiled at them. "Ready to get settled in into your new home?" Y/n nodded and walked with Julie to a house that was in between Howdy's and Eddie's. The house was painted f/c (favorite color) and a few boxes were laying out in front of the home.

"If you need help with decorating, let me know! I'm sure the others would be glad to help as well." Y/n nodded and thanked her as they began to take boxes into their home. They glanced around to see there was already furniture set up, so all they had to do was decorate. With that in mind, Y/n spent the next few hours making their home their own.

Around evening, their phone that was set up against the wall began to ring. They walked over and picked up only to hear Wally's voice on the other side. "Hello, dear! Just wanted to let you know the others have joined me in eating apple pie and we were wondering if you would like to join us?" Y/n smiled to themself and agreed they'd come.

"Wonderful! See you soon~" the call ended and Y/n began to make their way over to Wally's home in the center of the neighborhood. Things seem to be going great so far, the only problem is that Y/n couldn't remember why they were here in the first place. They brushed it off and opened Wally's door and joined the group in eating the delicious apple shaped pies.
