Gender queer is very similar to nonbinary, as it simply is saying that you are not a binary gender, or not truly one. They both fit under the trans umbrella and are relatively similar.
Queer describes someone who is either both, neither, or in between the gender binary.
So a queer person might be a person who is genderfluid, bigender or pangender, meanwhile nonbinary would be someone who is agender, or demi gender, or nonbinary (as in the androgynous one).
Though they can be used interchangeably, they do have slightly different meanings.
