"Welcome back, Andrew!" Addy's oldest sister, Nancy, said cheerily. She remembered him from the dinner nights ago.
Andrew waved to the brunette, before watching Addy beside him walk to the kitchen, him following after her and seeing her grab two cans of Dr. Thunder. She handed him one, mumbling a 'here' along with it. He accepted the soda gratefully.
"Let's head to my room," Addy said, leading him down a hallway, that creaked with age as he stepped on it. The walls were painted a light blue, and the carpet was grey and thinning from years of wear and tear. He peered into open doorways as they passed them, little reminders of how much time had passed since his last visit here.
They reached the end of the hallway, where Addy's bedroom sat. She opened the door to reveal a cozy bedroom decorated in shades of purple. Posters covered the walls and a laptop rested on her desk. A window overlooked the backyard garden that Andrew felt nostalgic with when he was younger.
His shadow shaped like a man with wings; his feet touched the floor and his hands caressed the red plush pillows on the bed and the bed frame itself was made out of cherry wood. The smell of incense was like a morning breeze in the grasslands when a storm was upon the horizon and the wind brought the fragrance of flowers from a nearby the garden replete with tulips and other flowers nodding in the wind like gentle bees.
"Andrew, I want to help you," Addy blurted, immediately taking his hand and holding it in hers, "You don't deserve what your... can you even call him 'father'... is doing to you..." she shut her eyes, wanting to be in his shoes, so he could be happy with a family, her family.
"A-Addy, its fine... I've dealt with him for some years... I'm almost out of school, so I won't be with him anymore... I promise."
The pounding of the blood in his ears, the beating of his heart, the warmth and comfort she was radiating.
Her eyes brimmed with tears and her nose was red, running alongside her cheeks and into the strands of her hair. Her eyes like emeralds in the bright sunlight, giving off a shine that could blind you. She opened her mouth to speak and her lips were chapped and blood red, "No, it's not fine, Andrew!" She screamed; her voice full of anger yet concern. Her hair was a waterfall of darkness down her back, her face was tinged red from the tears, the makeup smeared from running along the sides of her face. "You're being abused by someone that should care for you, and yet, you say you're fine... are you really okay?!" She pulled his hands to her face to hide her silent sobbing.
She embraced him and wept, her tears falling through his fingers as he whispered, "I'm so sorry..."
Her scent was that of rosebuds and lavender, the kind of smell that makes you want to relax by a riverbank on a blistering hot summer's day.
