A long time ago there was a family named The Mikaelsons. The mother Esther had heard stories from a fellow witch of a land where everyone was healthy and went to this mysterious land to escape the plague. In this village lives witches and werewolves alike and they lived in harmony The family which included the mother Esther, the father Mikael and their 2 children at that time: Finn and Elijah. During they're travel to this place Esther had fallen pregnant with her 3rd child. It was a long and treacherous boat journey. Taking them 4 months to arrive.

After arriving they were welcomed with open arms due to the fact that Mikael was a hunter and Esther was a healer. The hunting party welcomed Michael whereas the resident witch Ayana Bennet welcomed Esther. 5 months later Esther was in the process of labour whilst her husband was hunting. Ayana sent a messenger bird to Mikael and he quickly made his way back. He rushed to Ayana's house only to see his two sons Finn aged 4 with short brown hair and beautiful hazel eyes and Elijah aged 3 with brown hair and deep brown eyes with tears in their eyes holding on to each other. He knelt down and placed a hand on each of their heads. Both of them looked up with their eyes glistening. "Why are you crying my boys?" Mikael asked gently. "Momma keeps screaming." Whimpered Finn. "Your mother will be screaming she is working hard on bringing your little brother or sister into the world, try to cover each others ears and it'll be over soon." Explains Mikael. Both his boys nod their heads and cover their ears. Mikael briefly smiles but his wife calls out his name so he runs in to see her with a small bundle in her arms. The babe born with small brown wisps of hair and eyes a beautiful blue. He smiles again and walks over. "You've done it again my love. What will be the name of this one?" Queries Mikael. Esther smiles, "Kol. His name will be Kol." "Kol I love it, he will grow up to be a strong boy I know it."

The next child they had was Niklaus or "Nik" for short. He was a beautiful baby with wisps of dirty blonde hair and eyes a beautiful green. But what everyone but Ayana and Esther knew was that Mikael wasn't his father. Esther had an affair with a werewolf named Ansel. This happened when Finn was 5, Elijah 4 and Kol 1. When Finn and Elijah latex eyes on their little brother as they did with Kol they swore to themselves that they'd always love him no matter what.
