"Rory wake up."
--
At first, Aurora didn't react to what George whispered in her ear. A few seconds later, she realized what he had said and shot up so quickly to where she almost hit heads with him. "What did you just say?" Her hazel eyes were wide as she looked at him.A wide smirk grew on George's face. Even though he too was blackout drunk, he somehow managed to remember Bill sharing Aurora's famous nickname in the Guarnere household, "I called ya Rory."
"Oh for fucks sake." Aurora got out of bed and stumbled over to her twin brother's bed. She angrily ripped his blanket off and smacked the back of his head, "William Guarnere what did you tell them last night about my nickname? I swear if you deny what you did I'll murder ya"
Bill opened his eyes once she finished her sentence. Since she rudely woke him up, it took him a moment to process what she said completely. He too, like George, had a wide smirk on his face, "Oh, I won't deny a thing." He then pulled his blanket back over himself.
"What did you even say to them?" Aurora ran her fingers through her knotty hair then yanked the covers back off him, "I won't leave you alone till you tell me you jerk." Again, she smacked his head, but this time for fun.
He rolled his eyes and sat up, thinking back to the night before, "Well..."
—
After talking to Bill, Aurora ordered herself, Tab, and Shifty a drink. Then the entire table ended up with a drink. The drinks they all had were stronger than the ones they drank before, which led to ordering more. And more. And more. By the time they were done, they were truly now the loudest people in the bar."Heya Bill, do you remember that one night when you brought up one of Aurora's nicknames?" Malarkey asked Bill who was across from him.
Bill shook his head, "No, not really, but I wouldn't be surprised if I did." Then he chuckled softly.
"By any chance would you care to share that nickname?" Malarkey then pulled money out of his pocket which caused the table to pay attention to their conversation.
Bill, who hasn't taken his eyes off the money, contemplated sharing Aurora's nickname, "She'll kill me if I do."
"Kill ya if you do what?" Aurora was listening but did forget what the topic was. She then gasped out loud after Tab whispered in her ear saying why she'd kill him, "I will kill him, Malarkey. You guys will never know the nickname of mine."
Minutes passed as the twins began arguing as the rest of them had moved on from the topic.
No one bothered to listen till Bill smacked his hand on the table and blurted out, "Rory is her nickname and its been her nickname since she was little."
"Hey!" Aurora pulled her brother down and smacked her hand over his mouth so he couldn't speak. She glared at the men around the table who were laughing, "Oh you all shut up!"
George set his drink down as he finally controlled his laughter, "Now that's just wonderful, Bill, honestly."
"Yeah, well, Bilbo is Bill's most recent nickname that has been used ever since The Hobbit has been released." Aurora said as she pushed Bill away.
Bill glared at her, "Shut ya' mouth."
"Why should I? You're the one who started this." She glared at him and crossed her arms over her chest.
He held back a smirk, "Only to get this," He reached over the table and grabbed the money from Malarkey's hand then smiled widely in her face, "Now, I have $10 more than you, Rory."
"You're such a jerk, Bilbo."
"Get over it, Rory."
—
"Is that really what happened?" Aurora asked as she listened to her brother talk.
Bill nodded and got out of his bunk, "Yes, I'm sure it'll all come back to you soon. You had like 100 drinks for Christ Sake." He then gave her a stern look.
"I didn't have a 100 drinks," She shook her head and walked back to her bunk, putting the sheet up, "I only had a few."
Bill laughed and grabbed his clothes, "Only a few my ass," Then he began changing, "Whatever floats your boat, Rory."
"You better not start calling me that," Aurora said as she opened the curtain after changing, "Cause if you do, then I'm calling you Bilbo till you stop."
He rolled his eyes as he ran his finger through his hair and began walking out beside his sister, "I may not call you Rory but I'm sure the boys will."
"You're probably right," She sighed and shrugged, "Maybe it'll make me feel close to home." She tried looking at the bright side of the name but that went away once Bill went into a laughing fit.
He calmed down once he reached the mess hall, "Oh please, I'm sure it'll be annoying as hell instead of that warm homey feeling."
"Yeah, you're right again." Aurora shoved him before walking inside, "Fuck you, Bilbo."
