Alexander's P.O.V
Anna Marie Alvarez is my best friend since I was young. Both of our families are close so we often see each other. Everytime I see her I would always be showered with the most gentle smile.
We both went to the same school since elementary days until high school. We loved each others company. When we pass by each other we would always smile to each other, it was always like that until the time when I noticed something the change in her smile.
We were in our 8th Grade when something change in her, she always somehow space out and sometimes there's this dull look in her eyes which was odd for me because that has never happened before, her eyes would always be full of brightness to the point that you could compare them to a gem.
Everything in her was different from before, it was like she was hiding something from everyone, even from me. She was so distant, she would always avoid everyone as much as she can possible. She would always try to be alone or would prefer to be left alone.
Every single time that we would make eye contact, I somehow can see in her eyes that she wants to say something but choose not to. I always somehow hope that she would say something to me. That I would hear her pouring out her feelings while talking to me because every time that we would talk to her, her voice was so void of emotions.
Even when how she acts had changed, she would always look tired and unhealthy. We would always ask if she was fine and if she needed to rest. There was this one time when we saw her looking so deathly pale with eyes bags and red eyes we insisted to bring her to the clinic and for her to sleep.
Her eyes widened when we said these words "Everything would be fine as long as you sleep." It made her sit up and she attempted to walk away but I caught her on her wrist and pull her back. I tried to calm her down by saying "I promise to be here with you until you're wake, I'll even hold your hand if you want so deal?" She just nodded and lied down the infirmary bed but her eyes remained awake. "Now go to sleep, I'll keep my promise okay." With that she closed her eyes.
