Alexander's P.O.V

The doctor said they didn't know how much time she has but to put it simply her lifespan was short because of the cancer spreading throughout her body. Even though I kept on coming back to the hospital after school or even in weekends I would bring flowers and I would try cheering her up but still the only thing I get is a sad smile.

Her eyes were lifeless and dull. She would always just listen to me sharing what happened to school and things that I was new to, always not giving me any response but only a sad smile on her face. I was starting to get desperate on getting her to smile genuinely. After weeks of visiting her, she finally said something "Thank you." was her only response but it was enough to give me hope.

She was starting to learn how to laugh and have fun again. After a couple of months she was smiling genuinely but then little did I know her body was weakening. After several days that I wasn't able to visit her because of school, I tried to explain afraid that she might be upset about it but she only sat up and brought her hand on the window I also put mine as if desperately trying to holding her hand.

When her eyes connected to mine she saw how much I wanted her in my arm, hold her and just feel her, tears were falling from her eyes and soon followed mine as she said "Thank you. Thank you for everything even if I tried to put a distances between us you would always be there for me. I love you, Alexander. I'm so sorry, that I didn't say anything about this." As she said this my heart was pounding on my rib cage as if trying to jump out only to be held by her gentle hands.

"I love you too, Anna so please stay with me, please. I beg you." After my confession, I only saw her face plastered with the most genuine and gentle smile that I would never forget. I responded with a chuckle and was very happy that I finally get to confess my ever so long feelings for her. This gave me hope that someday there would be a time that I could finally hold her close and that she would be safe in my arms.

Little did I know that hope would become to be so fleeting........
