"Well anyways, we're here."
You came to a halt in front of a nice looking house with a small garden in the front and went up to the porch.
Martin unlocked the door and held it open.
"After you."
He said with a warm smile. When you stepped inside he put a hand on the small of your back, guiding you inside through the dark until he turned on the lights.
This small gesture was already enough to nearly cause your knees to buckle. The touch was tender, and the warmth of it seeped through you."Do you like it?"
He asked, scanning your face for a reaction."It's lovely. I really like your place."
You replied as you looked around."Thank you. It feels good to have somebody over."
He set down the cans and the bottle on a nearby table and you shrugged off his jacket, hanging it up on the wardrobe before you kicked off your shoes and placed them below the rack.Martin grabbed the drinks and went down the hall, into what seemed to be the kitchen.
"You can make yourself comfortable in the living room to your right. Oh, and ignore the few boxes around the place. I haven't gotten around to unpacking everything yet."
He shouted over his shoulder, his voice carrying a hint of embarrassment. You did as he said and ventured into the living room.
You got seated on a comfy three seater couch and placed your purse next to you.
Now that it would be only the two of you you started to feel tense.
There won't be anything to distract him from the pathetic, touch starved mess that you were and you had to take a quick moment to calm your nerves so you scanned your surroundings. His living room was very tidy with the exception of some boxes in a corner, a few papers and books about world wars and other historic events scattered on the wooden coffee table in front of you, as well as a used mug which seemed to once have contained coffee.
On the floor was a large, off-white colored carpet and you rubbed your feet over it, feeling how soft it was.
There was a big TV installed on the wall across the sofa and to your left you saw a shelf filled with various books and binders. You also spotted a picture among them.
It showed Martin with two young boys, all smiling brightly at the camera.Unfortunately, observing his furniture didn't do much to ease your racing heart.
Shortly after that Martin joined you and set down a wine glass in front of you before he poured some of the wine into it and cracked open a can of beer for himself.
"How about you turn on some music?"
He asked you and you nodded. You pulled out your phone and fumbled with it as he turned on the stereo.
"You just have to connect with 'Sonos 5 Martin' via Bluetooth."
He said while you looked for it in the settings. As soon as you were connected you let 'Starman' from David Bowie play softly through the speaker, just loud enough so that you were still able to make conversation.
"I see, you have a nice taste in music."
Martin hummed as he took a swig of his beer and you grabbed the glass of wine from the couch table in front of you.You lifted the glass to your lips, savouring the crisp taste.
"Thanks.""What else do you listen to?"
He asked and crossed his legs as he relaxed into the cushions. His knee brushed against yours for a brief moment, sending a small thrill through you.
"Oh almost everything really. I also like to make some music myself. I can play the electric guitar, bass guitar and, as I already told you, a little the piano so I sometimes like to play along a few songs, mostly rock."
