You stood on Martin's front porch, your heart beating a little faster than usual.
You checked the time again. It was exactly 8 p.m.
You hesitated for a moment, smoothing down your shirt and adjusting your hair before finally reaching up to ring the doorbell.
Seconds later the door swung open and revealed a grinning Martin, once again in a checkered shirt that he wore open over a grey tee.

"Hey,"
He greeted, stepping aside to let you in.
"Right on time. Come on in."

You entered the house and held up the neatly folded jacket you'd brought along, a slight smile on your lips.

"I believe this belongs to you,"
You said, handing him his jacket.

Martin took it from you, his fingers brushing against yours, sending a tiny jolt up your arm.

"I was wondering when I'd get this back,"
He mused with a chuckle.
"Thanks for bringing it back."

"No problem. I almost forgot it again, honestly."
You admitted.

You left you sneakers and jacket at the wardrobe and followed him to the living room.

"I'm glad you didn't. Now, how about we crack open that bottle of wine I mentioned?"

"What kind of wine?"
You asked.

"A delicious bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. I'll get it right away."

You sat down on the couch as Martin went to fetch the wine and he soon returned, setting down two glasses and the bottle before he got settled on the sofa as well.

"Anything in particular that you want to watch?"
Martin asked as he turned on his TV before he grabbed the bottle and expertly uncorked it.
The rich scent of the wine filled the room as he began to pour; the rich, red liquid swirling into your glass first before he filled his own.

"Hmm, I've been wanting to rewatch John Wick for quite some time. Plus, Keanu Reeves is always a win."
You suggested as you reached for your glass, taking a small sip.
The wine was smooth and velvety, unfolding its taste on your tongue.

"Can't argue with that. John Wick it is."

The two of you watched the movie and enjoyed one glass of wine after the other. The alcohol was warming you from the inside out, loosening the slight edge of nerves you'd felt earlier.
Every now and then, Martin would glance at you out of the corner of his eye, a soft smile playing on his lips as he was just as happy to be here as you were.

As the movie was playing you noticed Martin began to scoot closer and closer to you.
Halfway through the movie Martin decided to wrap an arm around your shoulders and you felt your heart nearly skipping a beat.

Your body froze, and you wondered if he could feel your heart racing through his touch, but if he did, he didn't show it. Instead Martin pulled you closer against him and you could feel the tension draining from your body as you relaxed into his side.
You leaned into him and let your head roll against his shoulder, as you felt his fingertips grazing softly over your upper arm.
You inhaled deeply and the smell of his cologne filled your nose.

"Comfortable?"
He asked, his voice low, almost a whisper.

"Yeah,"
You replied, the word carrying more weight than you intended.
"This is nice."
You mumbled and Martin hummed in agreement and you sighed happily as you continued watching what happened on the screen.

As the movie continued, you both slowly sank deeper into the cushions.
The feeling of him caressing your arm and the warmth radiating off of him, paired with the alcohol you consumed slowly but surely caused your eyelids to grow heavy and you didn't even remember dozing off.
