"So are we still going to the park today?" Jinhan's 14-year-old sister, Kang Ahyoon, asked her mother that day when Jinhan got home.
"Yes Ahyoon, we're still going. Come on, help me prepare the food we need to bring," their mother said as Ahyoon went to help her with the food.
Jinhan on the other hand went upstairs and kept his bag and went to sit on his computer chair. He started typing the website of the research homework they had due the day after.
Even when school was canceled for a week, they would have some homework every now-and-then.
He started working on it and he was about halfway into it until his mom knocked on his door. "Jinhan, get ready now. We're going to the park remember?" his mother reminded him.
He snapped his fingers. "Oh right. I'll be right down," he said as he went towards his closet and picked a casual tshirt and jeans to wear. He went right down after dressing up and saw his mom and sister at the door, his mom clicking the key on the wall.
"Is dad not coming again?" Jinhan asked, trying not to sound disappointed. His mom shook her head which signaled he wasn't coming.
"You know your father, always up to something," his mom said, obviously sounding disappointed this time. His dad really was always busy, but it wasn't because he had a job. He was always becoming drunk with his friends on the street, and he came back late at night.
When he isn't in the mood to drink, he was really nice to Jinhan, he could say that. His father was a kind and decent man when not drunk. But still, this drinking habit made Jinhan, Ahyoon, and their mother disappointed.
"Alright enough with the talking. Ahyoon, Jinhan, get in the car. We're going," their mother said, going out the door and into the driver's seat first, while Ahyoon and Jinhan followed into the back seats.
"Are we also gonna hang out at the lake?" Ahyoon asked their mother. "Yes we are. We're going to set up the picnic blanket close to the lake, so find a good spot for it later," their mother answered.

When they arrived at the park, many trees, bushes, and plants sat and stood at every place they could look at except the clean cement road in front of them. Jinhan loved the park, it made him calm and happy.
Their mother handed Ahyoon the picnic blanket while the basket went to Jinhan. They walked a bit and went around the corner to find a beautiful blue lake that was so wide it would've taken Jinhan months to swim from one side to the other.
The whole park surrounded half this lake and was usually filled with people in the morning. The view of the lake was beautiful, and if Jinhan looked at it once, he could never take his eyes off it.
Ahyoon soon found a good place to spread their picnic blanket at a grassy part around the lake, but the lake was still visible. Their mother approved of this place, so they settled in that area and started eating their sandwiches.
After a few minutes, Jinhan's phone buzzed and it turned on. Someone had texted him. He unlocked his phone and saw that it was Gyuwon.
