I ran over to Grover and Annabeth as they get out of the truck, "Is everyone okay?" Annabeth pants, "Absolutely, how is Father dearest?" I smiled, "Gave me a way out of the Underworld when we get there. Told me to be safe. Brought me a wedding gift from my step-mom." Annabeth smiled and hugged me, "I don't believe I ever told you congrats either! How awful am I?!"
"Annabeth, that was great, great demigod driving!" Grover smiled as he pointed at Annabeth. We all stopped and looked at Medusa beheaded. "Ew." I scrunched up my nose as Grover gagged, "Eghw."
Annabeth sighs, "We should take it with us. Just in case." Grover gagged, "The head? Oh, no. That's sick!" I chuckled at Grover's face and patted him on the back, "If you open the eyes, they still work, dead or alive." Annabeth nods, "You never know when something like that might come in handy."
Grover gave us both the side eye, "Yeah, you're right, but I'm not touching it." Percy looked at Grover, "Come on, man. Just take off your jacket. We'll wrap it up until we can get some ice." Grover went wide-eyed, "Why I gotta take off my jacket?" Percy smirks, "Because you're the protector and Miles is wearing Luke's so I don't see that as an option unless you want to be gutted like a fish."
Grover sighs and huffs, "Oh, yeah. You're right. I am the protector. So I'm going to give you my hoodie, not my jacket, okay? Also, people need to figure out that Miles isn't going to harm any of us. She loves us all. She's mom." Annabeth giggles at Grover as he shrugs off his hoodie and gives it to Percy.
Percy wraps up the severed head, "Disgusting." Grover sighs, "Just toss it up. You know, don't-" Percy tosses it behind his shoulder and Grover gags as he catches it. Annabeth and I lean against each other, laughing.
"Hey. Hey. Wait, guys." Percy leans forward and grabs something off of Medusa's sleeve, "One down. Two to go. Miles, make sure you don't leave yours." I nod and we all get in the truck, heading to our next destination.
"Would have been nice if Luke had warned us about Medusa," Annabeth says snarkily. I frown, "Galileo, he didn't know. I didn't know. I found my mother's statue there. If he knew he would have warned us." Grover nods while driving, "She's right. Luke would have told us since Miley is with us. You think that he would send us somewhere with her and not tell us?" Annabeth sighs, "You're right. Sorry, Leia." I smile and kiss her cheek, "Forgiven." It's very cramped in what should be a three-person truck, but I'm sitting half on Annabeth and half on Percy.
"GPS from the Gods, where to next?" Grover asks. Percy brings out the map that was in his backpack, "Let's see. The Parthenon in Nashville." Grover snorts and looks at me with a grin, "Nashville?! Aw, great! Home of Miles and mine least favorite music." I smirk, "Yeehaw!"
-That Night-
I fell asleep somewhere between West Virginia and Kentucky. Percy and Annabeth's heads were tucked into my neck as I just had mine hanging back. We all woke up to see a semi's headlights and the horn blaring. Grover swerved the truck back into our lane as Percy panicked, "Let's stop for the night!" I was tucking Annabeth close to me as she took deep breaths.
We pulled into a hotel and got out, Annabeth and I walked inside to get a room. Annabeth said that she was going to talk to Percy after he got out of the pool, so I went into the room to talk with Grover.
"So when will the wedding be?" Grover asked. I look up in thought, "We never got to talk about it, but when we get back. I'm sure it would be soon." Grover chuckles, "You're telling me between the time after Hades disappeared and the time that we showed up at Luke's cabin. You guys did nothing?" I smile and blush, "Well we didn't do nothing." Grover laughs, "Ew!"
We looked at the TV and paled, hearing Percy's name. Grover got up and walked out the door to let the duo know, "Hey, yo, Percy! Get in here man! This is ugly!" Grover comes back in with Percy and Annabeth on his heels.
"Perce, check this out, man." Grover says and turns the volume up, "You're on TV." Percy sits next to me as we all watch the news. "Surrounding the missing boy. Percy Jackson and his mother Sally Ugliano. But their relatives have some interesting theories." "So Mr. Ugliano, talk to me about your son Percy Jackson." "No, he's not my son. He's a stepson. He did not come from these loins."
I snort and look at Percy, "Thank Gods you didn't. You wouldn't be attractive." Annabeth snickers as Percy rolls his eyes, "I'm telling Luke you said that." We paid back attention to the news, "Ever since he started with the drugs and the alcohol, he's never been the same. Five nights ago, he tried to kill me, and he threw his mother to the ground, and then his cripple friend then attacked me from behind and knocked me out. When I woke up, Sally was gone. She was kidnapped by Percy. She would never leave without-"
Percy gritted his teeth and turned off the TV, "Oh, shut up, Gabe. Great. Now I'm a fugitive." Grover nods and stands up, "See that's what I'm talking about man. Gabe's always running his mouth. He's just mad that I busted him up with my crutches," Grover walks into the bathroom and groans, "Oh! Guys. I can't pee with her watching me."
Grover pales as he looks out the window and I follow his eyes, paling as well, seeing a hotel working double take at what she was seeing. She starts screaming and then runs off. Annabeth closes the curtains quickly and Grover gulps, "Sorry, guys. I messed up, should have closed the curtains." I start packing my backpack, "Come on guys. Let's hit the road before Homeland Security shows up."
We packed up everything and we hit the road again, this time, heading to the Parthenon.
