After Valentine's Day, life continued to go on like it had for the past month or so. It was peaceful and quiet, if not a bit boring. It was that time in the school year where there weren't many breaks or days off and the normal routine began to seem endless. Crys, Brandon, Tomas, and Emma all fell into their own routine, going to school, hanging out, and maybe some werewolf gallivanting at night. It was peaceful. Nothing really interesting happened for the next few weeks, and sooner than anyone expected, it was almost the end of the school year. It was the latter half of April, now, and at the present moment it was just another Thursday for the four friends. They were all seated around the lunch table at school, eating and talking like they had almost every single other day so far.
"Hey Crys." Tomas switched over to a new topic. He and the others were talking about something previously, but now that there was a lull in the conversation he decided to bring up something else.
"Hmm?" Crys responded.
"You ever decide if you were going to the dance this Saturday or not?" Tomas continued.
Crys rolled her eyes. "I'm working on it." She said as she gave a glance over to Brandon. She had been bugging him about going with her for the past two weeks when they first found out about the dance.
"I'm not going." Brandon said flatly. "I'm not going to get all dressed up when I could just be at home watching a movie instead."
"Oh, come on. Go with her!" Tomas said, trying to help Crys out. They had all had this conversation before, so he was expecting Brandon's response.
"I don't want to go! I've said it before and I'm saying it again!" Brandon said, starting to get a little frustrated.
Emma was keeping out of this conversation.
"Whatever." Crys said, putting this conversation to rest till later. "Anyways." She paused for a moment. "I can't believe it's already almost May. We get out what, June 6th or something like that?"
"June 4th, specifically." Emma said.
"Yeah, that. I was only two days off." Crys said back. "I just can't believe school's almost over."
"Finally almost summer." Tomas chimed in, sounding a bit relieved. "Cannot wait to finally get a break. I know we just had spring break not too long ago, but it was just a week off. That was nowhere near enough time."
"Maybe I can go to the beach this summer." Brandon fantasized. "That'd be nice."
"Well, maybe if you'd go to the dance with me, I'd let you go to the beach with me." Crys teased with a smug grin.
Brandon sighed and gave Crys a look. "Moving on." He said.
Lunch went on from there, with the friends just chatting back and forth about whatever they thought about.
Once school finally let out, Tomas and Emma were headed back to Emma's apartment. She had invited him over earlier that morning and was excited to show something to him.
The two of them rode the elevator up to Emma's apartment, then walked in. Emma took Tomas' hand and practically dragged him over to her laboratory.
"What are you showing me this time!?" Tomas asked while being hauled around by Emma.
"You will see!" Emma said, excited.
The two of them entered Emma's laboratory, and over in the corner Tomas saw what Emma wanted to show him.
"Here." Emma said, proudly showing off what she had created. "I am nearly done with it, now. All I need to do is finish writing the programming for it and then patch up any holes in the shell."
