Taking a shot and...landing?

A/N: okay, so, I'm starting this one off with an author's note. I just wanted to give a heads up that this chapter does have some spice. 😅. It's not them getting together yet, but I thought I'd give a head up for the first explicit scene. This chapter is also a bit longer because of the fact.

     Cas had a few more customers before he saw the man with the 'I <3 New York' hoodie come in. He was honestly quite stunned, he hadn't been expecting him to come back. Cas goes to say something but the hooded man heads off immediately toward the snack aisle before he has the chance. Cas nervously plays with his lanyard tag while he waits. He feels he should definitely leave the other man his phone number this time. What were the odds this man would come back again in his shift? He may have felt the guy was out of his league from sight alone, but he'd never know if he didn't try. He shifted on his feet, looking around.

     two nights in a row isn't weird for tourists, but the timing was. Cas wondered if maybe he was new to the area and was just working late nights like he is. The man could have just needed a quick bite to eat on his way home. When the man comes back cas smiled slightly at at his words, though the casual use of his name is a bit unnerving. Not because the guy gave him the creeps, just that not a lot of customers used it "Nice to see you again sir" Castiel says politely, and starts to scan his items.

     The man looks like he's about to talk but hesitated for a moment. "It's Michael" he says. "My name" he elaborates."

     Cas nodded, and smiled. "Oh, nice to meet you Michael" he scans a soda and puts it into the bag with the other candy items he'd scanned already. "That's actually one of my older brothers names" he snorts.

     "Yesterday you mentioned you liked the song whiskey lullaby," he says "that's a little niche for someone who says they aren't a fan, don't you think?" he jokes.

     Castiel is confused for a moment, and then he remembered when that new song came on the radio. "Oh, right." He says "yeah I guess" he snorts. "My brother Lucifer is in a band, and he really likes give music recommendations" he says, finishing up scanning items. "A couple Christmases ago he gave everyone CDs. Everyone's was different, and since I used to like ACDC and guns and roses a lot as a kid he thought I'd like Dean's music" he says.

      "Did you?" The man asked curiously as he gets his card out. Castiels hits the button on the monitor to finish the transaction.

     Cas shrugged lightly. "Well, it wasn't bad." He says. "I don't listen to classic rock as much anymore, I've been getting more into alternative and nineties pop lately" he admits.

     "Why whiskey lullaby?" Michael asked curiously. Cas takes a moment to think

      "Well, it just felt real I guess" he says. "There was emotion in his voice you don't hear in songs a lot" he says. "Plus the topic of the song probably makes a lot of people feel less alone. If that songs based off personal experience I guess...well it makes him seem more like everyone else. I like that he was willing to show that kind of vulnerability. It takes a lot of strength to share something that personal."

     For a moment Michael seems too stunned to respond. "Wow, that's a really good answer"

     Cas smiled "I try to be unique" he jokes. "Whenever you're ready for your card" he prods gently. As much as this conversation was nice and this man seemed kind of easy to talk to, he still had cleaning to do before he could clock out. The man seems flustered.

     "Oh, right" he says. He swipes the card and puts his pin in. Cas hits the button to print out the receipt and casually writes his number down on it before putting it in the bag as. He also writes a song recommendation on it so when the man asks what he wrote he wasn't technically lying when he said he wrote down a song reference. "Oh, thanks" Michael says with a slight smile. Cas once again wondered what the man looks like under his hood, sunglasses and today hat. Cas smiled.
