Castiel had woken up to his alarm a bit before noon, since it was a day he could sleep in he was bright eyed and bushy tailed for once. The first thing he did was get up and shower. He kept it quick and just did the necessities, it was late enough in the day he's actually woken up hungry.

When he's showered and dressed he heads to his kitchen. He opens up the freezer first, and after searching finds his microwavable breakfast sandwiches. He throws it in for about a minute and fifteen seconds and opens up his messaging app while he waits. He sends Michael a quick good morning text. He can't explain it but for some reason he has a feeling that today is just gonna be really good. Maybe it helped that for once he was getting to see the sun. It would have been a really nice day off, but he still had the day after so he wasn't going to complain. Taking today made it more likely he'd get the weekend off to see Anna's tournament.

His phone buzzed on the counter and he smiled and picked it back up. Michael had texted back that his morning was.going really well. Better now that he had someone he could message that he actually enjoyed talking too. When the microwave beeps Castiel gets the sandwich out and sits at the table to eat and text. Then Castiel gets a phone call from a familiar number and that feeling of an incoming amazing day comes crashing down. He takes a deep breath and answers "Hello?" He says.

"Hello Castiel, this is Crowley" the man on the line says. He always answered that way, as if Castiel didn't have his phone number saved cause he was literally the landlord.

"Hello Crowley, how can I help you today?" Castiel asked, trying to hang on to his good more.

"Actually, I called to talk about your balance..."

........

Castiel sighed lightly as the phone call comes to an end. He doesn't even have the energy to reply to the conversation with Michael now. He can feel that happy energy slipping right through his fingers. Crowley's words echo through his head.

"....Unfortunately you've fallen too far into the negatives. You have one month to pay off your negative balance or I'm gonna have to evict you. Im sorry Castiel, truly. But I can't treat you different than my other tenants just because I actually enjoy your personality"

Castiel doesn't know what the hell he's gonna do. He needs to find a roomate, but he doesn't want to post an add online. You never know what kind of crazies you'd get in New York. He tries to think about what else he can do, he's already putting in as many hours he can at his two jobs. He stresses over it for about ten minutes, then he gets a stroke of genius and decided to call his brother Lucifer. He listens to the tone, calling twice and hoping he'll answer.

" 'Ello?" Lucifer's voice mumbled after the last ring. Castiel sags in relief, he had started to think Lucifer really wouldn't answer.

"Wow, you sound super hung over," cas noted. This makes Lucifer snort lightly.

"That's an understatement lil bro, what do you need?" He asked. There's a rustle over the line, and then the flick of a lighter. He'd sat up to light a cigarette.

"You mentioned awhile ago that one of your band mates close to my age needed a place to stay" Castiel says "Is he still crashing on your couch? Because I desperately need a roomate or I'm gonna be evicted" stress slips into his tone. He hears Lucifer let out a long breath.

"Shit man, yeah he's still looking for a place. How behind are you?" He asked.

"About a grand" he admits, sighing "I've been kind of skating by paying as much as I can each month but I've reached the end of my land lord's understanding"
